That guy either doesn't know how to value his time or is going to give you something really crappy.

I'm a carpenter, I build furniture, and I can build a very nice lambic box from a $3.00 cedar plank. If you want an exotic wood, say--curly Maple, Bocote, Bubinga. Morado, Jacaranda--then the price goes up exponentially. But, I'd want $20.00 on top of the wood for my labor.

Yeah true, just sent a photo to a carpenter and he said he could make me one for $12. Just need to figure out exact dimensions and stuff.

If it's one of the ones that's just a box with a lip on the front to hold the bottle in place then it's not complicated at all. Most of the basic ones look like something a pack of cub scouts could turn out in a meeting. For somebody with a saw that can cut a template that would be no work at all.

Right, the cost of the wood should (under normal circumstances) be a minor part of the total cost. I'm also assuming that for anything under $30 you're not getting something that has finish. Like, even a dead-simple box with no handle and that's rectangular, with everything but the front the same height, will take probably half an hour to cut, clean, and glue up. Maybe you can find someone who only charges ~$20/hr for this sort of thing, but I'd be skeptical that you'd get anything particularly worthwhile for that price. May as well do it yourself.

(That goes out the window if someone's doing it in quantity, since you can get some efficiencies there.)

Guatemala

Since you are in Guatemala you should ask your carpenter about using a wood called 'Bocote' that wood comes from central America and is one of the most wonderfully grained woods--period. Its horribly expensive up here north of the border, but it might not be so bad down south where you are. Attached is an album I framed for my bar using some scrap Bocote (just to give you an example of the wood grain.

I'll ask about that, looks like it would make an awesome cradle!

The Carly Simon album must just be a placeholder?

Yeah, pretty much. The album is an old quadraphonic recording and I no longer have a quad system, only stereo. Quad just does not sound quite right on stereo so its relegated to the wall.

A coworker of mine told me about one time his girlfriend fingered his ******* resulting in the best ******** he'd ever had. This was being told right in front of another person who was there for his first day. This was a result of me telling the story of my doctor getting arrested for giving a handy, and then later a *******, to a prostate patient. Welcome to the team new guy!

Are Omnipollo/Tired Hands milkshakes known for having issues? Seems like 2/3rds of a shipment sent to Europe taste like fruit flavored bleach. Refunds being given if requested but no official statement from either brewer or a formal recall and loads of angry retailers and consumers. They were around $15 a pop.

Knowing how Tired Hands handles their social media activity they will never issue a statement on this.

I was pretty stoked to see Pseudo Sue on the shelves in Bismarck and grabbed a 4 pack. It wasn't until I was back at the hotel did I notice the date....04/07/17.
That can go **** itself.

For that beer, the date matters a lot less than whether or not it was brewed at TG or that Brew Hub place in Florida. Unfortunately, if I had to guess I'd suspect your 4-pack is both old and Florida-brewed. If it happens to be from Iowa, I bet it's still very nice.

I didn't know they were doing that so I looked at the can. "Brewed by TG blah blah under special agreement with Lakeland, FL."

It's really not that good. I've wanted to tick it for awhile and am seriously let down. Although it's not necessarily their fault.

The FL stuff isn't good fresh, either. I was really excited to see this on shelves recently until I drank a can.

Welcome to ND! If you're in town for a few days, go to Williquors and grab a bomber of Hopsmack. It's from mid June, but still pretty damn good. Way ******* better than that FL Sue ********.

That's where I got pseudo from. I'm here every couple weeks and have been for the last couple months and just found out about the place. I usually go to Captain Jacks, but will definitely be visiting Williquors more often.

Bismarck you say?
