I guess I'm struggling to find sympathy for a brewery that already made a very healthy margin by "only" receiving $300 for that bottle. It's not like they are going to go out of business because of that $200. Chalk it up as a loss and don't take the PR hit.

JMO.
I agree that taking the hit was probably the best option here but they probably thought "hey, we have the guys e-mail, I'll just drop him a line and see if we can sort this out". Cue ******* beer nerds losing their **** everywhere. There was over 100 comments on a post about this on a UK based facebook group by 9am this morning.

$1/drink obviously

I'm not sure anyone thinks they need sympathy for being down $200, though I don't agree with the craft beer CFOs who have determined they've made quite enough profit already. Maybe these prices help in small part with their expansion, or giving someone more hours or bringing on more help. Or maybe it just goes to line Clark's pockets. I don't know or care really. The prices were set and agreed to. A mistake was made. So how to handle?

I do agree that this email should not have been sent. Most retailers would ignore it and move on. But the response on FB and elsewhere is just embarrassing, especially if you take Clark at his word that he wasn't even aware. I completely disagree with JulianB choice to post as he did with "brewery *********gery" to start things off.

I don't have an opinion about the all the ethics/$200/whos right/whos wrong/fowl language/any of that. But I do know this has been one of the best Mondays of 2017 to date.

Thank you Toppling Goliath. Thank you Neil and Christopher. Thank you young assistant taproom manager. Thank you all.

even more than this, these guys had already spent a fuckton of money on other bottles as well. wasn't just the one bottle. TG collected like ~$1600 or something on 4 bottles and are still going after them for more money because of their own ******

One of the many hats I wear at work is Credit Manager.

Once a receipt is signed... that's it. You can't charge someone extra after the bill is settled without their express consent (IE a new receipt) as per the terms of your merchant agreement. You can charge them, sure... but you will instantly lose any challenge (like a chargeback).

So just so you know, if you wanna steal that TV from your hotel room, just settle your bill at the front desk and get a receipt, go back to the room, steal it, then do a chargeback. (this is something that has actually happened... we ate $700).

The way to negate this is a registration contract (or any contract in general).... but when's the last time you signed one of those at check-in? Amirite? Major brands dropped those out of convenience years ago.

I discovered in the past month I really like micheladas.

Yesterday I made an incredible michelada with a homebrew Belgian pale ale and homemade hot sauce (and some other stuff). Micheladas with blonde beers are out. Only pale ales from now on.
Yeah one of my spots in Boston used to make IPA micheladas that were awesome. The only way to drink Night Shift

IB4someone wishes the place would burn down/somebody dies because of this
There's an inverse rule for beer nerd scandals. Something small like a 500 bottle release selling out unexpectedly elicits an insane, raging response, and something as out there as the TG undercharge issue gets lulz.

Even Upright is trolling me with drinking ______ly ****.
"Sun Circles" our new collab with @RuseBrew debut this weekend at the Portland Farmhouse & Wild Ale Fest @saraveza https://t.co/i7XhHF0JJR https://t.co/1X9glr0pVJ

Can't figure out how to embed a tweet. ZFG

I'm waiting for a beer I can describe as drinking bigly.

It would probably be a NE DIPA with crushed taco bowl shells, cheeto shavings, spun caramelized sugar nests, mango, bacon, hate, Galaxy, Citra and Mosaic hops.
