Saw a pic somewhere else of some guys doing a barrel aged maple syrup tasting. I'm talking 8 different bottles served in tasting glasses (including HF and Voodoo syrup in their respective #properglassware). Has craft beer gone too far?

How is it a personal record then? Maybe he likes some mead and not others. I've never understood why anyone cares about untappd ratings, they're obviously personal and stupid, the only reason they aggregate and display averages is that people wouldn't stop asking for it, the information is nearly useless.

This is a big reason why I've recently just stopped using Untappd... so I can play dumb when I'm at a beer event to conversations like OMG THIS BREWERY HAS AN AVERAGE RATING OF 4.2 THEYRE THE ******* ****!

It was neat to track my "ticks" for a few years, but at this point I'm just too lazy to bother anymore and don't really care. That, and any conversation that somehow has Untappd involved is without a doubt a conversation I already know I want to walk away from. I really don't give a **** about the average rating of a beer a bunch of people I don't know or give a **** about rated a given beer.

I mainly use it because I'm forgetful and if I don't record my thoughts on something they'll be gone forever, which is useful to figure out if I actually want to order a beer or similar. I cannot possibly imagine caring what other people are doing on Untappd, I don't even look at my friends feed.

Damn you. Part of the reason why i checked untappd was to see what crazy **** RayP was drinkin on a tuesday at noon while all of us normal members of society were working.

"just got done riding the bike, time to dome a bomber of Oak Theory"

**** made my day.

Yup same here, I have like 6 friends on there from about three years ago so my feed isn't cluttered. I always tell ppl I'm a stoner and it's what I use to remember stuff (this works as a reason... or excuse).

Also it gives a great perspective of what a brewery has on tap when they don't have a live feed/website by recent checkins. I've found plenty of killer beers on tap just by using untappd and seeing recent checkins/pictures.

The people who make fun of Untappd never have a good reason to hate on it. Some ppl live and die by the tick but I'm just happy it can remind me of beers I'm too stoned and drunk to remember.

I guess I might do that if I trusted myself in actually rating or describing a beer... but you've seen my first few blind BIF entries. That type of **** ain't gonna do me any good down the road haha.

Great article for anyone looking to give a ******* to someone at a beer fest.
How do I go about getting one though?

Oh, and about the whole untappd thing...
Untappd isn't about the ratings, it's about the badges. If you guys aren't printing out your badges to wear when you go to breweries and beer events then how will everyone know that you mean serious business when it comes to beer?

Just last week some pleb was sitting at the buddha lounge trying to talk up sours that he was tasting like they were the best in the world. I started explaining to him why he was completely wrong. He looked a bit annoyed at first, like he was going to say something, but he shut his mouth when he noticed my level 42 "pucker up" badge. In fact, he was so impressed and humbled he promptly moved to another seat so he wouldn't embarrass himself in front of me again.

The 'overall' ratings may not be that helpful in many cases, but the "friends" tab is fire. Last night I was in a place with a number of new ticks to me, but all of which I knew many friends had. I was able to pick and choose based on that friends tab. While I can't trust the ratings of people I don't know, how my friends that I trust feel does help.
