Yeah, obviously half an hour in the car is silly, but now I do wonder about periods as short as 2 weeks.

I would say it depends mostly on the hop varietal. Some hops fade fast (crystal, citra, mosaic, etc) and some last longer (cascade, simcoe, hallertau).

This is obviously one of many factors, but in my experience this is the biggest factor.

I'm pretty sure SN did a bunch of tests and found there was a noticeable drop in 3 days from packaging but then no real change after 3 months, then a drop again. But they do a crap load of work shutting oxygen out so it's probably different per brewery.

Which would probably have more impact than the ingredients themselves I reckon.

So I bought beer earlier, it has been in the trunk of my car, in the shade, for maybe 2 hours. The bottles are still ******* cold.Thankfully I didn't buy any Pliny or I would have to throw it all out.

Blind Pig holds up better than Pliny, correct?

I wish more people did this stuff. We have 500 lists about the best IPA you've never had according to BeerAdvocate - where are the rigorous freshness comparison articles for a diverse array of beer styles, breweries, etc?

I have some 9 month old Heady and Second Fiddle cans boxed up in a never-sent package. They have not been refrigerated for at least 6 months. It was packaged for a brother of a spouse of my wife's 2nd cousin, I think that makes it an unrealized dream come true to someone I think I met for 5 minutes in the past ten years.

Who wants *(for science)!?

True story: I once left a bottle of Black Ops in my trunk for over a year, complete with temperature swings of 100° with high humidity in the summer to below zero in the winter.

It was the best bottle of Black Ops I've ever had.

In?

You can have these old On the Wings of Armageddon cans I have. Been refrigerated, but I think they're from last November.

I bought a lot of Nugget Nectar last year and ended up having one can left over that's still in the fridge. Waiting for this year's batch to come out so I can do a side-by-side.

I don't really get it. I mean, the event is kind of odd, I guess, but how is that an indictment of beer culture? It sounds like they just want to have a silly Halloween event.
