After having T30 it reminds how much I have always enjoyed Russian River beers. They make so many great beers. They are very clean and well executed.
Let's not confuse this with a JulianB 1000 mile drive reality of the situation post. I'm glad most people seemingly don't give a *** online about their beers anymore.

Also, ISO Pliny Bites

I used to love Consecration, Supplication, Temptation and Sanctification. I still like the latter two quite a bit, but find that the acetic character in the former two (which I could handle and enjoy when I was first dabbling in "sours") is more than I can handle (or my stomach can handle) now.

I definitely respect their execution. Their beers are consistent, and you always know what you are going to get. And yeah, those bites are great bar food.

Had to see for myself if Temptation was still great when visiting last week.

Confirmed. That beer is still tits.

I would wait outside the brewpub for an hour + every single time just to support their oldmoney ways. It's great they haven't even dabbled in the hazeboi or pastry stout game.

Also love RR, but they certainly did dabble in the hazy IPA realm (Tempo Change). Even so, give me Sanctification, Temptation, Pliny, and Pliny Bites, and I'm good. One of my favorite beer memories is the 3 hours of Younger and Pliny bites. While it's not my favorite hoppy beer, I hope they never change Pliny. That beer staying the same kinda feels like it holds this whole thing together.

Temptation is the only reason I’m still bummed about Russian River leaving WA in 2012.

Met a hazebro at the bar. Someone brought in a Pliny the Elder and the Hazebro had never heard of Russian River or Pliny.

With titles including “Flint Michigan Tap Water,” “Black Beer Matters,” “White Guilt” and “Mass Graves,” Jon Duncan and Rodney Chlebek acknowledge the names are likely to create a reaction from people. But, according to Duncan, at least people will be talking about current issues.“

Someone needs to explain to them the difference between between bringing attention to yourself and bringing attention to an issue.

I think a good version of this is THREES BREWING in Brooklyn. They'll name things stuff like "Gender Neutral" and "You People" that can start a conversation but aren't offensive to (reasonable) people.

This is just for shock value IMHO.

TBH "mass graves" sounds like it could be a 3 Floyds beer.

I plan to name my brewery ALL BOSNIANS MUST DIE, to draw attention to the 1992 war.

From the comments section of the story linked above:

Its ridiculous to get offended. Have you ever visited three floyds? They are quiet, yet obvious satanic white supremacists. Still good beer. This is over the top....obviously. Over the top is how you get noticed. Duncan is one of the least racist person i know. Hes being satirical. Loosen up people

Agreed on all points. Though I believe “You People” is not a social statement. Rather, all their IPAs have negative sounding names (superfuckingyawn, chronic myopia, I hate myself, constant disappointment, etc) because their brewer/s don’t really want to brew IPAs but know they have to. At least that was the story told to me back in the day.

Liked for the mention of my house of worship.
