Sort of, but I think he is involved in the actual blending of the other spontans, which is part of the problem.
Everyone also says that Boon Bone Dry was great, and Boon Black Label, both of which he helped with.
I get the sense he has good taste in beer, it's just his recipes that can be sad.

I did and it actually wasn't that bad. It wasn't good but I finished one of the two bottles you gave me and the other is still in the fridge instead of in the "what am I going to do with these ******* bottles?" pile I've been accumulating from relatives buying crappy beer and not drinking it.I downed 5 of the fuckers, terrible stuff.

I'm really glad someone brought that basil to a share. There was no way I was spending $30 on it, and didn't need more than a 3oz pour. the spontanbeetroot and gooseberry were good to me.
I liked the one in SF... I don't recall prices there but the ones in Europe are ridiculously expensive, especially Iceland.

The special stuff in the other cities is more special than in SF. And SF is notably expensive than other top-tier beer bars here.

So far I've had 17 of the spontan beers, and I have another 4 waiting to be consumed. The series is definitely wildly uneven in terms of quality. I think Spontanseabuckthorn was by far the best. Spontanbeetroot, Spontandoubleelderflower, Spontangooseberry, and Spontangreenapple were all solid. The others I've had were mediocre save for Spontanwatermelon (bad), Spontanpeach (the worst), and the dryhops (Centennial, Citra, and Simcoe).

Original Mikkeller in Copenhagen was great. Lower level in a building and very small. Draft list was okay with Spontanwats, but the $25 bottles of 2005 Vingeronne were the highlight of the trip. Nearby restaurant was good too.
