Racking off a hop monster

I'm brewing my first real hop monster NEIPA, it has a mix of fresh wet hops and pellets. Smells nice.

Had a question about how to rack off the hops - when I transferred from kettle to fermentor I sieved off the hops but for the dryhop I just put everything in commando since I don't own a hop sock. Now the fermentor is full of leaf hops and hop debris and I might be regretting that decision.

What are people's techniques for racking this kind of beer to the bottling bucket? (I don't have kegs). I wasn't planning on cold-crashing since haze is good here and I don't want the oxygen suckback. I normally use an 8mm silicone tube for racking - but pretty sure this will gunk up easily when racking with all these whole cones.

Appreciate any ideas.

Could try a "cool" crash, just cold enough get the stuff to drop but not enough to get rid of all the haze. I do it by just leaving the window open in the veranda in the winter overnight but not very exact...

Do you have a LHBS near you?

I'd say if you're more anal about it than just carefully racking between the trub/hops, you could buy a hop bag and siphon from inside the hop bag to utilize it as a filter.

I think one of Papazian's books shows using a kitchen scrubber on the end of the racking cane to act as a filter of sorts. Maybe rack it into your bottling bucket that way, let it settle, and be careful about disturbing the bottom when you bottle it up.

Don't be afraid of cold crashing just because of "suck back" I have cold crashed all my beers for years and I've never had any aeration issues. If you really don't want to cold crash due to the hazy style you're going for then get a muslin bag and wrap it around the bottom of your racking cane/auto siphon and rack carefully from the just below the surface down.
