This is my first starter and I want to make sure I'm on the right track.

The recipe calls for 6 lb of amber LME and 3.3 lbs of dark LME, and I've got one smack pack of EURO ALE 1338 - im calculating an OG of 1.075, does this seem right?

I was planning on using a growler(1/2 gal) that I had on hand, and adding 3 cups of DME added to 6 cups of water.

does this sound about right?
if not, where should I be heading.

I use 1/2 cup DME per 2 cups water, so I'd say that you would have a bit too much DME. For 6 cups water, 1.5 cups would be about right.

I agree.

I also don't think you can get an OG of 1.075 out of 9.3 lbs LME unless your batch size is less than 5g. Assuming zero losses, you could get 1.068 for a 5g batch.

I usually go 1.5 liters with 150g of DME.

Most of our measuring devices come from IKEA and have both metric and US units on them. Makes life easy :)
