So I am sitting here thinking that once I start my first batch and it is my primary do I need a blowoff tube. I am going to be storing my primary at my Uncle's wine room and will only be able to check on the primary once a day. So do you think it would be safer to go with a blowoff vs worrying about a clog.

what size tube would I Need to attach to my plastic airlock. my kit is coming with a 6 gallon BB with bung with hole in it for airlock I'd like to attach tubing to the airlock body. I guess I can just take the airlock with me to the hardware store just to make sure I get the right stuff.

I broke down and bought another bung with a hole. Took the bung to the hardware and bought tubing that fit TIGHTLY in the hole. Works like a charm, and I ALWAYS use it for about the first 48 hours of fermentation. If, at the end of 48 hours, it is still wildly fermenting, I just leave it attached. Won't hurt anything...and will surely save time cleaning up a big mess!
