Yeah I agree, 5 gallon is a waste of time and money. Ten gallon circular igloo MLT on ebay for 100 bucks...

I have a 5 and 10 gal Home Depot GOTT coolers; I did my first all grain last weekend and used the 5 gal for my MLT.

A 12.75# grain bill is TOO MUCH for the 5 gal. Upon my first stirring of the mash, the paddle displaced the water/grain and it started to spill over the top. Then when I tried to put the lid on, same thing happened. Then useing the 10 gallon for my HLT was a bit much...had to enlist my 18 year old to help me get it up on the counter.

So this weekend I am doing another AG brew (same recipe) but am reversing the coolers- 10 gal for MLT, 5 gal for HLT. It should all work out.

I would say if you are going to get one, go for the 10 gallon cooler, buy the parts and build it yourself. It will save you enough money to buy the materials for your counter flow chiller! hehee
