Hey, I'm Porsche
I'm an amateur brewer. I am learning to be self sufficient and I just love gaining knowledge.
I have a mead I made for my husband and I to open for our first wedding anniversary.
Thinking about making a ginger beer to have for Christmas.

Welcome to the forum from a Texas Brewer. I mostly brew beer but have made 2 batches of mead (I also keep bees, garden, reload, hunt and fish). I made One melomel recipe on here (Joes Ancient Orange Mead) and another famous one on here called Brays One Month Mead (uses nutrients) - done in a month.

I make a little rice wine from time to time (ferments out to 22%ABV-- wowie zowie!). In perilous and uncertain times great hobbies that feed, protect and make one happy (beer) are essential.

Good Luck and best wishes on your ginger beer.

Thank you for the welcome, I am thinking really hard about getting bees. I do enjoy gardening and I'm doing my best to teach my kids as I learn so we can all know how to take care of ourselves. Great hobbies for sure 😊

Welcome to the group!

We were all amateur brewers at one time. Gaining knowledge is what I like too and there's so much of it with beer brewing alone. Lots of it here.

Greetings from the sometimes sunny San Francisco bay area. I still consider myself an armature even though I have been doing this for about 4 years. Enjoy the hobby and ask questions. These folks are serious rock stars when it comes to exchanging info and helping out.

Welcome! Lots to learn here; been a great resource for me. Been making beer & wine for a long time, but I’ve got my first batch of mead in the works right now. Also, did a ginger beer this summer. I had done my first batch a decade ago, and somehow just never got around to making it again.

If you do your ginger beer, consider dumping apple juice onto the yeast cake after the ginger beer is done. It makes a hard cider with a ginger bite to it.

Thanks for the advice I'll be sure to try that.
