Thats the one I went to. Great place to decompress after dinner at Petit Cochon.
;)
I really need to make an effort to go there one day. Especially since I dig PC.
Only noteworthy dining I've done in MTL was Hotel Herman (now closed) and the touristy spots like Gibby's and Milo's.
Can never seem to get a reservation for Joe Beef.

We went to Liverpool House since Joe Beef was full and it was pretty damn amazing.

once got a ******* on the gaspé peninsula.
Bumping this thread to try and get a sense if there are any must hit spots in Quebec City. I'll be in town in a few weeks and am looking for good beer and wine recommendations. Thanks in advance!
Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap Rouge FTW

Bumping this thread for lunch/dinner recommendations. Headed up here in July with my wife (we'll be up for the first few days of FEQ).

Thanks!

CoinStarChange for dinner in Quebec City, you should check out Buvette Scott. They normally have a great tap list (short list) and a few bottles. Food is really good. If you like natural wine, you should try Le Moine Échansson. Food is also great there
That was the one place I emailed for a reservation, but maybe I should call instead...did it last night.

Thanks for the recommendations!

For beer, if they still have the Pomace Orange from Auval, go for it; it is pretty good. I am not sure if they still have bottles as this was pretty limited.

For Wine, you should try bottles from Pinard & Filles or Domaine du Nival. These are 2 wineries from Quebec that do amazing products. This is also really limited so I am not sure if you will be able to find these

I second this. Buvette Scott was my favorite stop in all of Quebec City - great food and drink in a really relaxed atmosphere. And though I didn't eat at Le Moine Échansson, it was my favorite drink stop in the city - excellent wines.

Le Moine Échansson is also a private import agency specialized in Natural Wine so they are able to find some great wine to offer on their menu. Always some great discoveries there!

My wife and I really enjoyed our evening at L'Affaire Est Ketchup a couple years ago.

We also ate at Le Moine Échansson, pretty fantastic.

Had Boréale du Nord-Est IPA last night at Ninkasi, which was a cool spot. Such a good beer.

Also ate at Buvette Scott, which was excellent. They had bottles of 3F Kriekenlambik for 30$ there, but I passed.

Round 2 today!

Fun fact, Boréale is macro-ish but they've made some significant changes 2 years ago and it now shows up. This NEIPA is definitely a good and cheap beer, despite being on the sweeter side of things. If you see Ta Meilleure from Lagabière, don't hesitate, its a good local IPA too (less NEIPA, more american, 100% good). Also, Brasserie du Bas-Canada kills hot this year, will probably be the best local brewery of 2018.

Regarding the 3F KL, its was 20$ for the very lucky folks that could get some, so 30$ is not that bad, but still steep (but hey that's Canadian $ hehe!)

Enjoy your trip!

I had a couple Boreale beers when I was in Montreal and Quebec in 2016 and while they were fine, they were pretty ho-hum standard beers. They seemed to be the beers you'd find at places that were focused more so on wine. Really sounds like they've been working on improving things since then.

ya, I think they've changed the head brewer at the end of 2016 (or was it early 2017?)

To give you an idea, some of the latest stuff that changed the game for them:

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boreale-episode-4--ipa-du-nord-est/475183/
https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boreale-ipa-du-nord-est-galaxy/602319/ (solid variant, much better than the OG IMO)

They've had growlers of a BA stout as well that was apparently quite delicious. It's still fairly limited in terms of range but they are really going in a good direction following those changes.

Their beer from "Serie Artisan" are decent as well (ISA des Chutes, etc).

I had their standard IPA at L'Express in Montreal and I guess I must have had an early batch of the ISA at Moine Echanson in Quebec. I remember liking it well enough.
