I brewed my first pumkin beer last week and when I checked it today it smelled of bananas. Is this normal? Will it subside? Fermented at about 66-68 and used Wyeast 1450: Denny's Favorite. Im not sure what went wrong

I believe the culprit is Isoamyl acetate. I can't say I have first hand experience with it yet but from reading around some people have said that it will fade away given enough time.

What temp are you fermenting at? Could be the yeast or it is possible that the combination of spices and pumpkin could give an aroma like banana. I wouldn't worry about it for now.

The first of my pumpkin beers that I tried after 3 weeks in the bottles had a similar taste and smell. It didn't seem to have the taste when i bottled it. I'm guessing (and hoping) it will fade over time.
