So I've got my brewstand and March pump but have just been using an old LME bucket from AHS to cover my pump.

Anybody have good, easy, and nice looking suggestions? I've seen diamond plate fabricated ones, but I'm not sure I have the tools to make that happen.

Help me out HBT!

Well...they make diamond plate in a really thin version for trim, etc. You can probably bend that easily.....the aluminum plate is pretty easy to work with too. Or you could go the toolbox pump + controller route.....like this.

This may sound stupid, but why do we need a shroud for our pumps? Does moisture/direct water ruin them? I just mounted my chugger pump and don't have anything around it yet; how necessary is it?

IMO, it depends on where the pump is mounted. Obviously, if the pump is in a location where it is at risk of getting sloshed on, a shroud would help protect it. I don't use a shroud on my pump, but it's mounted on it's own portable base and not really in much danger of getting doused at all. It's been exposed to some minor splashing now and then without sustaining any damage.

Here's mine.

No problem.....

Waunabeer- They're actually really useful as long as they don't suffocate. Aluminum is a good choice because it transfers heat well. One boilover or loose fitting will send fluid right down into the pump.....and sticky gunk between rotors and stators can't be a good thing :mug:

i bought some aluminum flashing in the roofing section of lowes. looks shiny, and thin enough that you can cut it with plain old scissors.
