So I had a nice wild yeast infection. Bottle bombs and those gross looking clusters clinging to the sides of my bottles.

Can I soak my buckets, hoses and everything in bleach or iodophore, or do I need to get rid of that stuff? Bummed.

I would advise getting new plastics after an infection. You could however bleach them with a dilute bleach solution and rinse very, very well.

I would say that as long as the plastic is not scratched give them a good soak in Chlorine free Oxyclean. If they soak too long the tubing will get a haze to them that comes out with a Vinegar/Water solution. I think the Bleach solution is way too overkill. I have had some WTH happened batches and still use the same equipment.

I think the tubing will go for sure. But I can't bring myself to toss the auto siphon. Just bought that thing! I've never tried Oxyclean, but I'm going to pick some up today.

The auto siphon probably had minimal contact and can be cleaned. It's the buckets I worry about. As for tubing it's so cheap I replace it regularly anyway.

Oxyclean is amazing for cleaning, but I'm uncertain of it's bug killing capability. You can get Sun brand generic Oxyclean for a lot cheaper at a dollar store.

Yeah, I should have taken some pics. Thanks for all the help though guys! New bucket, oxyclean and some bleach!

Get rid of the tubing for sure. You can salvage the bucket if it's in good shape but get a new lid and seal. As for the auto siphon, take it apart and rinse the crap out of it and soak it in a strong Star-San solution (1.25oz/5gal.) Same for the bucket and airlock. Soak everything overnight, scrub them down with a clean soft rag soaked in the solution, dump them out and repeat. You should be all set after that.

DO NOT USE OXYCLEAN AND BLEACH TOGETHER! YOU WILL CREATE CHLORINE GAS IMMEDIATELY WHICH CAN SEVERELY DAMAGE YOUR LUNGS.

Soak the stuff in oxyclean to make sure all the deposits are gone. Rinse several times then add the bleach. DO not in any case mix the two or use bleach after oxyclean without a thorough rinse.

Sorry when BennyN said "New bucket, oxyclean and some bleach!" I foresaw something dangerous.

I recently had a wild yeast issue with a batch. I only replaced my racking tube which was due anyways. I just washed and sanitized everything really well and have done a few batches since and no infection. I actually had a wild yeast deal (didnt know it at the time) on my very first batch with brand new equipment. Clean and sanitize your stuff and you should be good.
