Hey All,

Just wanted to swing a recipe by you guys and get feedback/suggestions.

10lbs - 2 Row
1lb - Crystal 60
0.5lb - Chocolate Malt
2oz - Biscuit Malt
Hops: (I'm not sure on this. I'm thinking 1oz in the 8% range)
Yeast: Notty

Mash at 154 for 60-90 minutes.

What do you guys think?

I think it's heavy on crystal, but that's a matter of personal preference. I don't think you'll notice 2oz of biscuit. Maybe 8oz each of c-60 and biscuit, and 2oz c-120?

This was something I found and it looked pretty good. I've only done 1 porter in the past and it was extract. That's why I'm looking for suggestions to this. My family isn't huge on stouts so I just wanted something sweeter, tasty, and mellow for them to give it more of a try.

Why not an oatmeal stout or a milk stout then? I like porters, but I've always thought they have a bit of an astringent character to them.

Too much crystal, not enough dark malt and the 2oz of biscuit will be completely lost.

With the same basic ingredients try something like this:

10 lbs pale
.75 lb Biscuit
.25 lb crystal 60L
.25 lb crystal 120L
1 lb Chocolate malt
.25 black patent or Carafa II
