Yeah I ran hot water thru today it seems to work fine but I plan on my next day off to drill slightly bigger holes about two inches to every three inches.

I am curious to hear how this works out on a brew day. In my experience, I haven't seen many, if any, splatter screens that I would have thought were solid enough to not collapse under the weight of the wet grain. Looking forward to hearing your results.

Could always run a few stainless bolts into as post to support it. Even the blicham fb has support post.

I went with one of these: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/zyliss-reg-stainless-steel-11-inch-steamer-basket/1010164354

Removed the center post and drilled a 1/2" hole for my pickup tube. Flipped it upside down and it works great. And less that $8 when you use a 20% off coupon.

One of the biggest reasons this works well for me is that the opening in my MLT is only 9" (I had issues cutting my keggle). This collapses so it easily fits through the opening.

interested to hear how some of these are working....

Agreed we are in the process of building an e herms rig out of kegs. trying to determine what to use for the mash tun and brew kettle. would 2 mm holes be too big for this type of application?

I'm doing the same but going whirlpool and side pick up tube for the BK.

Interested as well. I've been looking at this particular item for a while. I don't know how I'd fit into my kettle, but it seems as though it could work.

I was thinking I'd use one of the above colanders and sit it on top of the steamer rack that came with my pots.

Then as long as my dip tube is under the steamer rack it'll all fit in there nicely.

I just ordered a 50 litre pot with an aluminum strainer from Home Hardware for under $190.00, the only gotcha is I have to pick it up at a store. The pot is $97.00 Cdn and the strainer is $70.00 Cdn.
Just wanted to pass it along as we don't often get deals down here.
I will update with the pots thickness and quality when I get it.

oops, almost forgot, they also sell this same pot at Home Depot Canada, but it's around $106, so an extra 10 bucks, might be worth it if you have no Home Hardware in your area.
Good luck.
