You know there will be at least 1 1-star review for The K13 with a note below saying "I don't like barleywines." That **** is just gold.
1.25/5 doesn't take like barley OR wine!

I expect the vanilla version to be the lesser of the two but it probably won't be a vanilla bomb like caution has been in the past. I probably won't get to try it anyway so my opinion means squat.Don't forget about the Otterbois that'll trash the vanilla one for being a pastrywine.
I've checked in 1364 unique beers and still haven't gotten laid.
Anytime anyone says "craft beer" is dominated by dudes, I'm gonna remind them that no matter their race, sexual preference or whatever that if they tick enough beers they'll be respected enough to get a "dry slow tugger"I just told someone you had 1364 unique checkins and got a dry-slow tugger. Also paid cash.
So which of you miscreants are gonna go and stand in line on Saturday morning for BRC pourz?
the big BA beer/stout game is weak as hell down here. I guess it makes sense given the climate though.
BG IV which somehow trumped III.
I concur and the constant ******* heat was my logical conclusion as well.
Was BG IV an Old Ale? How does it compare to II, which I loved and probably drank more of than any BG other than MOMO.
IV is a BA Wee Heavy.
That's right...my bad
I'm gonna come in with the unpopular opinion that iv was decent but nothing special and not worth the cost. I'd put it in the realm of backwoods and wulver, both of which are cheaper and easily accessible. I guess pgh is blessed with one style of great shelfie action with ba scotch ale/wee heavy. Should be easy to do a side by side.
I also thought the Alesmith BA Wee Heavy was the closest comparison to IV.While I thought BG IV was more complex than those two, for me the biggest difference was drinkability. I love Backwoods and Wulver, but they're both pretty hot booze wise , especially Wulver. IV seemed a lot more well rounded to me. I likened it to Alesmith BA Wee Heavy rather than backwoods or Wulver.

but the question we're all dying to have answered - how does it compare to Tenacious Wee?
New or Old TW? Very different answers.
Combined average of both.
Funny, I was also going to put IV in the realm of backwoods and wulver, which means I thought it was ******* phenomenal. Backwoods is still my favorite Founders beer (with the possible exception of black biscuit, which I remember loving, but is forever lost to my aging, beer-drowned memory), and I think I slightly preferred wulver to backwoods. If anyone got bottles of IV and wants to, we should definitely try a side-by-side-by-side.I'm gonna come in with the unpopular opinion that iv was decent but nothing special and not worth the cost. I haven’t had IV, but I’d be hard pressed to think it’s better than either old TWs. Opposite for the new batch. Fire away, VM.

I loved the newer TW, but it's so barrel-heavy, it's completely unlike any of the other previously discussed wees. Tasted more like a ba old ale to me.I haven’t had IV, but I’d be hard pressed to think it’s better than either old TWs. Opposite for the new batch. Fire away, VM.
Dang, I think that’s the first I’ve ever heard of bad ones in the old batches. My condolences. Eagle Rare was one of my favorite BRC beers ever.Every time I read something positive about the OG tenacious wee bottles it makes me think that I got pranked.
Ive drank a couple beers in my life...and to this day both of them were the only beers I ever come across that smelled like catfish stink bait.

I didn't by any means think it was bad, but just not enough better than shelfies i can pick up at any giant eagle at half the cost or less. I guess its more of a testament to the fact that we have awesome shelf beers of at least one style.Funny, I was also going to put IV in the realm of backwoods and wulver, which means I thought it was ******* phenomenal. I had 1 bad OG Ten Wee (similar to stakem's notes) vs 2 fantastic nearly perfect OG bottles. The bad one was maybe at a year and a half old? The good ones were hot off the presses.
I had to check to see if I even had the new one... so that says something right there. Despite this, I apparently liked it better than the OG Buffalo Trace but not quite as much as the OG Eagle Rare.
I like talking about old Pittsburgh beers.![]()

I think BA scotch ales/wee heavies age weird.
OG Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot had that same stankEvery time I read something positive about the OG tenacious wee bottles it makes me think that I got pranked.
