What brewery is in the rocks? Abjuration? If so, that’s a really unfortunate bad pick for a location.

Honestly though...if haze or barrels or fruit, there will be lines.

I mean....homestead.
Homestead is a white picket fence wonderland compared to some of the actually bad neighborhoods around town. I'm not fresh on my Rocks info, but the bottoms are pretty damn bad & Carrick & Mt. Oliver are on a race to literally kill everyone in them.

West Homewood north of Frankstown Rd. Frankstown is fine. North of it...not so much.
Parts of the hill, Homewood, and mckees rocks are super sketchy. I wouldn't hesitate to walk down the main street during the day though.

You guys will go just to get your "The Wire" moment.
Watching this now. In Bourdain's defense, he's not the one who said that, but that Braddock filmmaker guy who seems real bitter about Braddock in general.

I feel like Mt. Oliver is just dragging all its homicides a few feet into city property & being all nah man that's where they fell, sorry about your luck city.

You're not too wrong. And without making this TalkLocalMunicipalities.com I will leave this as brief as I can.

Since Brownsville Rd. south of Hays/Bausman is City on the one side and borough on the other the line is pretty blurry. Especially when it happens in or near the business district, sometimes crime in Knoxville is described as Mt. O and vice-versa.

I have lived here for 5+ years and while I will never argue that it is safer than Cranberry, I have always felt that most of our violent crime is drug related at the core. Truly random crime is just as rare as it is in the burbs and I have never had any reason to feel unsafe.

And for the sake of fake news I need to correct my statement. The last homicide in Mt. Oliver Borough was just about two years ago. Then I think it was 2012 or 13 there were three in the same year unless I am forgetting something else.

To bring it back to beer, I think breweries can be great anchors for depressed/recovering areas. Having good, normal people go to any responsible business brings in foot traffic which naturally pushes out some of the seedier people and issues that crop up when a business district is largely vacant storefronts. It also lets people see that rough neighborhoods are not war zones where bullets are flying day and night.

Back to regularly scheduled TalkBeer, whales, hauls, fallen soldiers, and lines with dongs in hands. Pepperidge Farm remebers when the only DONG talk was Draft Only, No Growlers and funneling a bar pour into a bottle in the stall of a bathroom was the only way to get your hands on some of the new hotness.

TL;DR Factoing a beer was cool before lining up for beer was cool.

I live in a nice up and coming neighborhood in cleveland and within a span of 2 weeks my car was broken into, I had to call 911 for a domestic abuse incident across the street, and a woman was held at gunpoint on the corner at 9:30am

cleveland blows

I'll be in Cleveland Friday if you want me to help you clean up the streets, say word Cat

you think there's ever been a beer nerd citizen's arrest at one of these bottle releases?

Did you guys know they've got Head Hunter, Sea Quench and Burning River on tap at the casino? And a $3 draft happy hour 5-7 every Mon-Thu. Not saying it's the best draft list in the city or anything, but... CASINO!
**** every casino in this state, cheating ass fuckwads.

At the suggestion of some people with more knowledge than me...

This is easy for someone here to handle. I just got one so wanted to give one of you degenerates the chance to get it.

I moved to Philly about two months ago and I'm missing Pittsburgh pretty badly. Three years ago I would have said Philly crushes Pittsburgh beer wise. That is definitely not the case anymore. The overall quality/quantity of the breweries in Pittsburgh is better than the Philly city breweries. I can't remember the last time I got a growler fill. Forest and Main and Tired Hands are elite but when you live in the actual city here they are 35-50 minutes away. I think I just feel spoiled that I used to be able to get to Roundabout/Dancing Gnome in 10 Minutes. There is really good distro here but Pittsburgh kind of caught up with that as well. If anyone needs any beer from here just let me know. Always up to trade for Pittsburgh stuff or just picking whatever up for cost if you want.

A wiser man than me once said "All the out of code Firestone Walker in the world can't take the place of a fresh glass of Pacific Ring."

For real tho, cask beers at Forest and Main are a thing of beauty, next time i'm trekking across PA i'll snag you some DG or RB and we can meet up there for a pint and some onion rings. Keep your head up pal

I don't "trade" anymore, but I am sympathetic to Pgh expats. Happy to get out box every now and then for c+s or $4$'ish with whatever you think is worth drinking from out that way.

BTW, chefduff2 I haven't forgotten about you. I've been busy chasing deer instead of beer.

Great more deer talk with greg4579, can't wait to NOT get any jerky again this year. SMH (seriously man, honestly)

Can you come chase them out of my yard? They are so lazy they don’t even flinch when the car comes down the driveway.
