Dude got a half case of FBS for $15, I saw a part of Westmoreland County I'd never seen before, we both walked away happy, win-win in my book.

Personally, I'd gladly pay someone a reasonable premium if I can't make it over there at any given time. $9 doesn't seem like a lot to me. Their time is valuable too. This doesn't seem like those guys selling heady topper at 2x the price years ago.

To me, placing myself in the shoes of the seller, 9 bucks isn't enough of windfall to justify the hassle of communicating that I had the item for sale and then coordinating the sale itself to the second party. I can only speak for myself of course but in that instance the juice just doesn't seem to be with the squeeze.

Totally agree from seller's point of view. $9 isn't worth the hassle. But, for example, I can't make it to this Wednesday's release. If anyone wants to sell me some cans for cost plus $9, I'll take them.

So at what price point is selling Voodoo bottles acceptable or BG bottles? Is profiteering wrong or is taking away the opportunity away from someone to buy a limited beer at retail? Is the brewery cool with secondary sales? If you wanted to get their name out there can't you just trade for another IPA or give it to an out of town friend?

Voodoo was very clear with their stance on secondary sales. Given The Brew Gentlemen's behavior and max profits business model, they likely don't care about asshats reselling their products.

On the matter at hand, why not ask Dancing Gnome directly what they think of some dope reselling their beer at a 50% markup?

If I trade it for another IPA, Im wasting money on the shipping, and probably also getting a shittier product unless it's Trillium. Of course if someone I personally knew from out of town wanted it, I'd send it for cost. The small trading I do do anymore for RAR. Whales, I throw them in as extras too. I'm in no need of the small amount of money, and I'm not keeping it anyways, it's getting funneled back into more beer sales for them.

Since your cause is so noble, why not just ask the brewery for free beer? You won't have to go behind their back reselling it and I'm sure the brewery would be happy to invest in someone who is getting their name out there to people who in all likelihood will never spend a dime at their establishment.

What if it went down like this: I asked one of you fine TB 'Burghers if you have any extra DN cans because I couldn't make the release and one of you PMs generously that you have some extra. We agree to meet somewhere and at that time I throw you an extra $10 spot. You say, "it's not necessary" and I say "I insist. I appreciate you taking the time to share and meet me with the beer." I suspect no one would really care if it went down that way right? Maybe it's different but that's a more likely scenario to me. If it were me personally, I'd just share the beer at my cost.

I can understand buying to trade, and to a lesser degree buying and reselling if you can't afford to drink without some sort of hustle, but if you don't need the money, why buy extra when you know that you're taking away from another local's chance to drink it?

Back to actual beer for a moment. The Kaleidoscope IPA from Roundabout is really good. Might be my favorite IPA from them to date. Definitely worth grabbing if you are in the area.

Is Dan's offer really that bad? He breaks even, plus gets covered a four-pack for his trouble (the "free beer" shuglord claims he was angling for). Buyer gets beer at a 50% mark-up plus shipping, which is what a retailer would charge anyway.

Admittedly this isn't my game, but it doesn't seem like gross profiteering to me. dadavat even said that the margin barely seemed worth the effort, so it's not like Dan would be getting away with murder here. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

On this whole subject of shitlording, I actually firmly side with every word that shuggy has posted...well that pertains to the subject at hand and without the insults of course. But again, he will never know.
