Las Palmas over in Brookline. Probably going to swing by there in a couple hours myself actually.

Love that place, but I got a thing after work and it's a bit too far from my office for a lunch sprint.

Traffic was horrendous, but at least I'll get food poisoning. Ate a regular and a bacon burger while stuck in horrendous traffic on the ride back to the office. The above was consumed while reading the link--thanks for sharing!!!

You done goofed man. Should have gotten the gyro. While gyros give you the cucumber sauce burps for a good 24 hours, that burger looks like it will be exploding from your ass four minutes after consumption.

Probably doing the Voodoo/Brew Gentlemen pilgrimage this weekend. Anyone know if the Peach Nectarine Weiss is already gone, or has it not been put on tap yet? Looking forward to trying it but did not see it on the Brew Gentlemen website.

Knowing that barflybastard had easy access to a lunch gyro, and passed it up, means I can never take a Pittsburgh beer rec from him seriously.

Gyros don't scratch the hangover itch. Straight decision would've been Galis, even though their gyros aren't great. Needed some grease to straighten out.

This hurts man. :(

BBQ > Gyros in a landslide

I drank a Lake Erie Monster last night. Not sure if I've ever had it before but holy **** was it awful.

Where is there good BBQ in Pittsburgh though? ****, the ribs you get at a TGI Fridays were better than almost everything I've had in Pittsburgh. There is a place called Wheelfish out in the North Hills I want to try, but other than that this place sucks for it.

My wife said there's an awesome place in Washington but I obviously don't get down to that part of the world too often. Truth be told, Smokey Bones has excellent ribs. Union Pig and Chicken has great brisket. Can't say I've found pulled pork that I'd drool over though.

Union Pig & Chicken was pretty good when I was there a few years ago but a bit pricey for the style of cuisine.

Smoke BBQ also has some great smoked offerings and they're branching out to different things lately. There's a huge menu now, they used to be just tacos but now you can get smoked meat sandwiches, ribs, & chicken.

Do the Cannonball Run to Clem's Cafe and stock up for winter.

When's the most recent time you had their stuff? Last two times I went there, I felt it wasn't as good as in my memory.

I've had a gyro from Gali's within the past few months. I've been getting gyros from here a few times a year since they've opened, and every time I enjoy it as much as the previous visit. Different strokes.

Union Pig was alright. They are always on Groupon, which saves a few bucks here and there.

As for Clem's, haven't been there in years. I go to Penn State 4+ times a year so I pass it often, just haven't stopped in recently. Probably should pop in the next time I go up.

Agree with Smoke though. One of my favorite spots. I know one of the owners from way back before she opened up Smoke with her partner. Crazy to see how far they've come from cooking food at home to the Homestead days to where they are now.

Good BBQ > most foods, for sure. Just not always easy to find good BBQ. And when you do BBQ, you need to do it up, and not be able to move when you're done. That's why lunch gyros are the best. BBQ is a dinner thing.

I haven't had Clem's in a coon's age. Need to revisit.

Not sure if any of you clowns go to OCMD or the DE Beaches for vacation, and do so by driving on 50E through MD, but there is a bomb BBQ place that is en route. You can get delicious BBQ on your way to the beach, and bring me Pittsburgh beers for my recommendation.

For sure. I used to go there 1-2 times a week when I had a gig in Homestead. I really miss their smoked wings. Amazing. I wonder if they would have stuck around if Voodoo Homestead was a thing...

Drive by this every single day, keep meaning to check it out but I just haven't yet. If I get around to it I'll let you know how it was.

It's gone.

Wheelfish is a very cool spot, good bourbon/cocktail list and small but decent beer selection. Ribs and pulled pork are a step above most other places in the area. Brisket is killer. Check their site for bands playing as its small and gets loud in there.

Pitt Stop in Bellevue is worth a stop for the Pork Belly or Cuban sandwich.

I think they definitely would have needed a bigger space due to how popular they were becoming, and I'm sure they prefer their current location over the old one. I thought their Homestead location was a cool spot though.

Damn. You snooze, you lose. I'm more of a weekend warrior but it looks like I need to step up my weekday drinking. Same thing happened with the Maple Brukfust.

Like preluderl said above, I'm going to check out this Wheelfish one of these days. Sounds like a cool place.

Clem's on RT 22. You're welcome.

I like Blowfish as well and they are usually at BG on Fridays.

Thanks for the rec.

Also, see above. :D

Forgot about the food trucks though. Haven't had anything from Blowfish, but I thought Voodoo's pulled pork sandwich was awesome.

Blowfish is solid. I like his stuff but I'm not crazy about it. You put him and any other food truck in front of me and I'll stop at Hooties every single time though.
