i just bought a hat yesterday at that "workin mans clothing" or whatever you call it.
my first real Butler experience. Lunch rec's welcome, as I'm also there every two weeks or so.

Lots of options in the downtown area:
The Chop Shop or Burger Hut on Main St. - Burger Hut is an absolute dump but the food is good
The Hot Dog Shoppe or Monroe Hotel on Monroe St. - short drive east off Main - Gorillo's bottle shop shares the HDS building
Rachel's Roadhouse - Top of North Main St. hill beside the Get Go

Shubrew has a pretty nice ipa on now called corfam. Worth checking out if you're north of the city. Not mind blowing, but easily the best beer I've had of theirs.

I didn't get a picture, but I definitely drank too much of the graveyard. Was not feeling great this morning.

I was in pretty good shape(relative to drinking) this morning. You young whippersnappers need to learn some self control and moderation. Of course, having 20 bottles opened for the taking doesn't help much.

Self control and moderation aren't my strong suits so maybe it's for the best that I dipped out early.

Thanks for the homebrew compliments! I'm trying to brew a 10 gallon batch of a new sour saison soon so there should be plenty to go around in a few months.

Pretty well done. Sherry is only slightly above Apple Brandy and Cognac as far as spirit barrels go for me, but it was noticeable and not dominant. Not the kind of beer you want to try and dissect on a 90+ day though.

They were also selling bottles of Kriek 2 for $25.

Self control and moderation aren't my strong suits so maybe it's for the best that I dipped out early.

The compliments are warranted as your beers are far more enjoyable than the "sours" the pros around here are putting out. Looking forward to more sour saison. You planning to do a couple different dry hops?

I'll probably split into 3 batches. Dry hop one with simcoe again, blend another with ~20% lambic I have sitting around that's too sour use on its own, and the last will be blended with a Mead that I fermented with 3f gueuze dregs to make something similar to Casey east bank. I might wait til I get back from Vermont so I can culture up something from whatever my favorite hill farmstead saison is to use in primary for all the batches.

Kriek 2?! Any bottles of batch 1? Good to hear and I agree that a stout doesn't taste as great on a blazing hot day. I'll text you this week.

Any standouts from the tasting? In retrospect, I'm upset at myself for not coming down. Some drunk dude at Bakersfield squeezed my fiancée's bum, I didn't get home until after 2 am despite my first beer of the day coming at Brew Gentlemen at around 3:30 pm, and when all was said and done I dropped a facepalm worthy amount of money.

Other notes: thanks Shug for the Nocturn (probably my next favorite JK offering after Atrial) and this batch of Lou is phenomenal.

With the the Buccos' upcoming schedule, now is the time to put together some strings of wins.

Also, and this will never happen, but it would be so awesome if the front office put together a package for Chris Sale. I know the Pirates have the ammo to land him and I want them more than ever to get that # 1 guy instead of sitting around and waiting for Glasnow, Taillon, etc. to develop.

Yeah, I've heard that Tusk and Grain Coconut Stout is phenomenal. Definitely jealous you guys got to try that. I need to try more coconut stouts/porters, becauae I'm a huge fan of them.

You're welcome and thanks for the JWB. I'll be interested in what you think of RB Ensorcelled the next time we get together. Tops for me were WoL:Anchorage, 2011 Old Stock, 2015 Gose Gone Wild, and Almanac Blueberry

A couple other beers of note were BA Gratitude and supposedly infected BCBS. BA Grat is just boring and at $17 a can I'll never buy another one. The BCBS was 100% spot on. Anybody that gets to send in for the refund and still enjoy BCBS the way it was meant to be is making out like a bandit.

YMMV, but I'm not sure if I would recommend culturing HF dregs. I could be wrong (and probably am), but I think they started adding wine yeast at bottling to deter people from taking the yeast.

Before the supposed switch, I made a Biere de Miel using Anna dregs that I cultured up. It was the best beer I've ever made, and the only BOS beer I've ever brewed. I tried making beers after the switch, and they weren't even close to the results I got before.
