Staying downtown there are lots of bars/options. I'd recommend Fat Head's, Piper Pub and Carson St Deli on the Southside and Proper downtown. I have not been downtown recently, but I am sure there are lots of other options. Looking at breweries Draii Laag, Brew Gentlemen and Roundabout are all closed on Mondays. Your best best is probably Voodoo, which is an easy drive if you hit the other places on the Southside.

Edit: Smallman Galley is close to downtown and would have a good selection of local brews and some great food.

I'll kill you.

1st edition of Good Gourd Almighty. Hands down best rum barrel aged beer. Rum oil is great if you can get it on tap. Bottles have always been hit or miss, mostly miss. Brad has said he is done with rum barrels for that reason.

Rum GGA is very easily the best pumpkin beer I've had. Bourbon is not far behind.

Don't think I've ever had a rum aged beer other than Blackbeards.

I only remember the ones i didn't really care for, like Rumpking and the one from Innis and Gun. I'm thinking of a Lost Abbey one but i can't remember the name and ain't gonna google it. Feel like there is an obvious local one that's escaping my brain..........?

I've always wanted to like Rum, cause pirates drank Rum and i like pirates and pirate stories, but i just never developed a taste for it.

I'm a big Bolton fan tho

Those were infected. On tap it is great, so is Sherry Oil.

I didn't like Sherry Oil either.

... Or Wood Ya Honey, or BB Black Maple ...

It ruffles the jammies of kbuzz that I don't enjoy JO's, but I've yet to have a BA beer from them that I thought was very good. I guess I just don't dig their stuff for one reason or another. I have a bottle of BA Dark App at home though, still need to give that a chance.

You won't like it. I'll just have it.

I'm with kbuzz

Oro was exceptional.

The LOU last year was just OK to me. I just didn't dig the hops. This year's LOU is phenomenal. I really liked it a lot and got a growler to go. I told Rjdillman that I actually liked it better than Akamai, which on the TB Pittsburgh Thread scale places it somewhere between Nimble Giant and Rolling Rock.
I got a big onion flavor from last year's Lou. I got to it kinda late, if that makes a difference, but whatever kind of hops caused that, I'm not a big fan of.

Have you tried Champion Ground? I think its one of, if not the best, stout they've made.

Not really a fan of coffee, so I've stayed away from that one. Coffee and peppers as adjuncts don't do it for me. I did really enjoy AB GNVP, but by the time I had the pleasure of trying it the peppers were pretty faint.

I don't know if it's my exceedingly high expectations but each time I have it, I like it less. The B1 draft only batch was a revelation to me at the time. Someone brought a growler of it to the massive Beerhive share a while back. Maybe Beerwanderer? First bottle run was still really good but a noticeable step behind. This most recent bottle run was sadly kind of forgettable especially in comparison to the 2 previous batches (I think they've only done 3).

EDIT: I should add that I LOVE chili stouts. I would have a throbber for a week if Voodoo released unbarreled GNVP here and there.

I think Oil kicks the **** out of Dark App so I'd imagine BA Oil will be better than BA Dark App which I liked but didn't love.

I am with preluderl and haven't been a fan of the Jackie O's stuff that i've had. Sam, I know you've been trying to sell me but I still haven't found one that has made me want to seek it out. Haven't had Champion Ground or any of their regular releases so I still am holding out hope to find one that I like.

troygreer - beginning to think taste in beer might be the only thing we DON'T have in common...

First FH, now JO?? You're breaking my heart man.
