Actually of all those that McMatt7 listed in that post, Sam Cooke gets the most play from me. Greatest crooner of all time. Picked one of his songs for my first dance with my wife...there isn't enough Sam Cooke played in the world.

Glad to hear we can all agree on ATDI and/or Mars Volta and/or Sparta and/or Omar's solo weird **** though.

I like the whole genealogy of those peeps, Sparta the least though for sure....

Did you see that Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has 12 solo albums coming out? Overkill much? But I have to say that I am looking forward to the one with John Frusciante.

Frusciante has recorded with Omar a ton in the past...in his solo stuff and with the Mars Volta...he was even on Deloused. Definitely not a new collab there...but thinking maybe you didn't mean it that way and you were just looking forward to new Omar/Frusciante collab stuff?

My dad was a huge Sam fan growing up and he turned me onto it young so i've been SamCookin since SamCookin since SamCookin. Def my favorite of all eternity.

Not really. There was this thing--recently got into a (non-beer related) argument with my very pregnant wife, the result of which she called me selfish.

So, I stupidly mentioned that I'd teetotal (kind of blame Dogleg here for wicked ninja inception trick on my spouse) until baby number three drops and she didn't respond with "that's so sweet, I'm convinced you're not selfish, don't worry about it, I forgive you, please go drink beers now."

This very dark period of my life lasted until this past weekend, when she initiated a negotiation of sorts, the result of that being that dszok handed me a Heady on a boat and the spell was broken.

EDM was the only thing that got me through this.

Jesus, dude has been sitting on quite a bit of material apparently, I'll have to take a week's vacation and load up on reefer for a listening party. A 1 man listening party.

I think he just never stops recording. Has like 27 solo albums in the last 9 years. That's not including the 12 scheduled for this year.
