Missed yesterday. Tl Dr. Someone keep cliff notes for me starting Monday since I'll be giving the Florida mouse all my wife's money for a week. Don't want to miss out on a week of pittsburgh beer news
You know you won't be able to resist reading after the first day.

Any been to Hop House? Wanted to stop after a long day, but was in a work vehicle & couldn't.
Idk if its Carnegie or Greentree or whut. Worth a visit?
Decent wings, dirty tap lines, walls smell like smoke.

Got 4 extra tix to Bucco's game tonight (free), if anyone wants to use them hit me up.

What are your favorite gueuzes? I'm looking to acquire some solid wild ales, preferably gueuze, but open to other wild ales from across the Atlantic. Anything I MUST seek out? Loons, 3F, etc...is the rarer stuff like zenne, 50n4e, etc really that much better than the easier-to-acquire stuff they produce?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't had any of the rarer stuff but it's hard to imagine it being too much better than the regular 3f, cantillon and tilquin gueuze. You can get St Louis and hanssens gueuze at market district and they're both excellent beers. I've got a few spare 3f 375ml bottles I'd be willing to trade if you want.

Anything along the lines of Hanssen's, Tilquin, Girardin are going to be easier to find and with about 95% of the deliciousness of the tougher stuff. Drie Fonteinen is my hands down favorite "shelf" lambic. Will just mention Cantillon of course but the more lambic I drink, the more I find the classic Gueuze to be a bit one dimensional (but still stellar). Hell I wouldnt even turn down Lindeman's.

The harder to find stuff (A&T, Armand Seasons, Golden Blend, 3F Vintage, etc) are by far some of the best beers I've ever had, but diminishing returns for the pain in the ass of obtaining them.

If you're ever town and want me to open up a couple - I'm down.

I always forget about cuvee Rene. I think gueuze is the most interesting beer style and its hard to go wrong with any of them. Except for De troch winter gueuze, back sweetened nastiness

I feel like all the standards are great but everyone's favorite will be different. Mine is 3f og, but you might luck out and cuvee Rene will be your favorite (and you can get it almost everywhere).

Thanks for all the help guys. Stigs, I'll hit you up sometime and maybe drag Brian down and we'll have a nice little share.

Luckily I enjoy both the cuvee renee and st. Louis gueuze fond, so I drink those whenever I'm feeling a gueuze. May try to land one of the rarer wild ales just to experience.

They are all over in the Bay area. I've gotten 3F at Vintage estates as well.

Sitting on the shelf? Or did you get it at one of their raffles? I landed a hommage and the Golden blend there once, but never saw stuff just sitting on shelves.

^^^^ What shuggy said. I live about an hour from Coastal DE, and it'll hit some shelves there from time to time. $18 a pop last time (750ml), but haven't heard of it hitting for a few months.

I thought maybe I was crazy for preferring 3F OG and Tilquin over any Cantillon I've ever had.

I've had some Cantillon that was actually bad. Like, almost undrinkable. A lot of it was from 2013 and 2014. Recent batches have been more promising, but it still doesn't hold a candle to 3F and Tilquin.

It amazes me how consistent they are with their blending. Unreal skill.

3f is distro by Shelton bros so theoretically you can get it anywhere that they sell to. I've only ever seen one bottle of the gueuze and it was in Columbus. I've seen numerous bottles of intense red but it's always over $20 for a 375 so I never bought it.

tommyguz 's wife took the cupcakes to a whole new level today at voodoo for my baby #2 diaper party.
