Ha. Good one.
******* Portland.

Really? I've seen every episode, multiple times.Somebody once called that, "The show that everybody watched the first episode, and hardly anyone kept watching after that."
I couldn't disagree, that was exactly what I did.
I love Portlandia. As for Portland - no clue, as I've never been there. My first guess was OneDropSoup , and lo-and-behold...

EDIT: And while I'm at it, as a fan of the British office, I think the American Office is way too broad (read: dumb).
Extras was good, but nowhere near as tight & focused as Office. Have you seen Larry Sanders or any Alan Partridge stuff? Also like the British Office. Our family randomly ordered it on Netflix before I ever saw the American one, so I had a hard time adapting. Ever see Extras? Similar Ricky Gervais ridiculousness

Me too, I just know what I know. They're kind of David Brent precursors. No, I haven't. I'm actually pretty bad at TV, tbh..
Every time I think of British comedy I always imagine it as some sort of spinoff of this:
Other than Holy Grail, I've never been able to get into Monty Python. It's always just seemed way too academic to me, like "This is a study in absurdity. Observe." The Kids in the Hall were my foray into comedy as an art form.My mental images of British comedy begin and end with Monty python. All the absurdly nonsensical goofy **** that everyone thinks is hilarious nowadays started with them. That lion roar skit that someone posted earlier reminded me exactly of Monty python, but not as funny.

I plan to bring up the '14 and '15 sets to open up at BG the next time I come up to PGH. I can let you know when, and you can come try them.I enjoyed B2 ADWTD but it has probably been 7 months since I've had it. IMHO cognac works better for barleywines than it does stouts.
Back to 'Cakes, I remember being wowed by the original set at the 2nd Voodoo barrel room release/camp out on Arch St. I never had the double barrel version but I hope to soon remedy that jon2dubs Rjdillman
Tequila was really good when I went down to the '15 release, cognac was better in tap, and coconut was stupid good.Tequila Cake blew my socks off my ass. The other guys like Double Barrel more but I'm Mexican and all.
I got plenty to open, I just need a reason. This sounds like a good reasonI plan to bring up the '14 and '15 sets to open up at BG the next time I come up to PGH. I can let you know when, and you can come try them

Like the show, love the city. The BA PDX forum people are the worst of the worst tho.
I guarantee that you only think that because of your perspective having been conditioned to absurdity by kids in the hall and everything after...not that I can claim to have a different perspective or anything...but....I don't know...I grew up on the pythons...my dad and grandpa watched that **** religiously, so it was the first absurdness I ever became conditioned to. Everything else since in that same genre seems derivative and just much less funny.
Have you watched their sketches or just the movies?
Dead parrot, ministry of silly walks? Etc.... ? Seems right up your alley....
Unpopular opinion: I don't think Monty Python is funny.
