I agree with the above sentiments on A Deal With the Devil. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was just too sweet and syrupy for my tastes.

On a related note, it blows my mind with how sought after the third batch of this beer is. I guess the limited availability of it really makes it that much more desirable.

I enjoyed B2 ADWTD but it has probably been 7 months since I've had it. IMHO cognac works better for barleywines than it does stouts.

Back to 'Cakes, I remember being wowed by the original set at the 2nd Voodoo barrel room release/camp out on Arch St. I never had the double barrel version but I hope to soon remedy that jon2dubs Rjdillman

Almost every cognac barrel beer I have ever had has been a disappointment. ADWTD b1 is an exception to that.

I really liked ADWTD b2
b2 was also great, but had it a couple time in the last few months and something is off. It's just super sweet now.

never had b1, but I thought b2 ADWTD was gross as ****.

The highlighted part above is exactly how I felt when I consumed it fresh. Easily the most cloyingly sweet beer I've ever had. Had to fight my way through it not to drainpour.

If anyone wants to offload their crappy Black Magicks please see me.

I think its tough because people are just always going to compare it to the pappy barrel which everyone loved, because, well pappy. (and it was ******* awesome)

I hate seeing stuff like that too because he clearly has no idea how far off he is.

Yeah and unless PSUMike private messages him, then he will never know! (jk)

Anyone heard anything at all about Troegs dropping Wild Elf this summer? Had a friend out there when BA Troegenator came out, they told her maybe June.

I heard them talk about it a while back, but forget where I saw it, maybe on their FB

EDIT: http://beerstreetjournal.com/troegs-wild-elf/

Tequila Cake blew my socks off my ass. The other guys like Double Barrel more but I'm Mexican and all.

The only Tequila barrel beer I've ever had was Firestone Walker PNC, which is easily my favorite FW beer I've ever had. I was nervous about the tequila part, but there was so much coconut and fudge (reminded me of the early few batches of Parabola)...Not sure how much was from the barrel and how much was from the beer itself.

I would like to search out some more Tequila BA Stouts though...

Three of us split the 2014 Mexican Cake set and all three enjoyed the Tequila Cake the most. All of the variants were amazing though, and this is definitely a set of beers I wish I could experience again.

The only time I ever did something like that was a FT: Dark Lord ISO: BT GNVP post. I messaged him and asked "Which variants are you offering?" He got my point and said something to the effect of "I clearly didn't do any research to see what this was trading for."

EDIT: Part of me was doing it to be a smartass but there was a small part that was hoping he'd reconsider and offer something like a BADL.

Was just busting balls. I hate you can't comment, even though a lot of people are rude about it but still

So those of you who trade. This is the 5th instance I heard (2 of my own) that 12 bottle styro shippers are getting snatched in Portland OR and "destroyed" via Fed Ex. Be careful out there. I think they are just picking them out because it's a shape they realize what it is.
