I hate Pitt, but I was kinda pulling for them to get the upset because every Clemson fan I know is beyond obnoxious.

I don't know any Clemson fans but I always root for the three local college teams unless they are playing Penn State. Talking **** on Pitt is second nature to me, but my father is a lifelong Pitt fan and raised me to root for the Panthers. Two of my best friends went to WVU, and I became a fan during the era of Pat White/Steve Slaton and Pittsnogle/Gansey.

Pittsnogle....yuck

You just couldn't handle how roguishly handsome he was.

Ahhhh, I miss the college years, visiting my friend at WVU and seeing Steve Slaton do massive lines of coke at a party.

Any of you NC guys or travelers have any NC brewery recommendations for someone who is mostly disinterested in IPAs? I'm probably just stopping through for the night on Thursday (pending finding reasonably priced airbnbs). Pretty flexible geographically, but having 2 or 3 good spots reasonably close together would definitely be a bonus.

2-3 spots close together sounds like Asheville to me. And if you end up in that area, the Sierra Nevada campus is a frickin must. beerman6686 can fill you in on the rest. Guarantee he mentions Zillicoah at least twice.

Sorry for having appreciation for beers beyond IPAs and 15% sugar water. Do you you only like going to Sierra Nevada because they have old man rocking chairs in which you can sit and drink Big Foot and rememeber the good old days 15 years ago when it was actually considered a good beer? ;)

Joking aside, I now prefer Charlotte over Asheville just specifically for the beer, but Asheville is definitely more scenic, and I mean specifically scenic breweries. Sierra Nevada is amazing for that and Zillacoah is pretty great too. Other than that Im luke warm on Asheville beer, Burial is good most of the time, but pretty repetative, and lots of IPAs. Fonta Flora is pretty much right in between the 2 cities so thats a must if you can squeeze it in on the way. Old Hickory is a little closer to Charlotte. I know you like those old school ba beers.

Not the only reason, but definitely the main one.
To be fair, that sounds like a pretty good time to me too.

If you do end up in Charlotte, you’ll probably want to hit up NoDa. There are something like 8 breweries in that area now including the namesake, Heist, Salud Cerveceria, Divine Barrel...and a few miles up the road in Plaza Midwood is Resident Culture, which is probably my fave Charlotte brewery, but do a lot of IPAs.

Resident Culture also has several of their wild ales for in house consumtion which are worth checking out for sure.

I ended up only having time for one brewery, so I hit Fonta Flora. Was definitely worth the stop. Favorite beer I had was probably Errday.
Anybody know why there's a picture of Cleveland in the men's room?

You made the right choice if you were only hitting one place. Can't believe they were selling magnums of Errday for $25.
