A lot of research indicates to aerate your wort when you pitch the yeast.

When transferring wort from kettle to fermenter, would it not make sense to pitch the yeast as you are transferring. This way you get full solution and aeration as the fermenter fills.

I use a counterflow chiller and in the summer I can only get my wort down to about 80 degrees while I’m transferring so it wouldn’t work for me.

When you boil the wort you drive off the oxygen in it. You may not get enough oxygen to dissolve into the wort just in the transfer. Stirring vigorously dissolves more and once dissolved it stays there unless you get over about 7 ppm.

I dump the yeast in the fermenter first, then transfer on top of it from the chiller. I also put the transfer hose into the fermenter in a sanitized paint strainer to catch the trub, and it aerates that way. I'll still give it a good shakeup before putting it in the chamber though.
