My plan now is to make 2000ml starter, then to place in fridge to separate the yeast from rest of starter.

I understand the need to get the wort down to a certain temperature before pitching. So, I am going to place my wort in the temp controlled fermentation chamber without the yeast for a day or so to get it down to the desired temp.
As for the yeast, it will be cold when I separate it from the rest of the starter. Is it fine to pitch the yeast at this temperature? Or should the yeast come closer to room temperature? Or maybe to the temp of the wort?

The yeast will be less stressed if it is at the same temperature of the wort when pitched. A 5°F to 10°F difference in temperature is acceptable.
