Has anyone ever been to McKenzie Brew House in Berwyn? I pass it going to/from work and checked it out online. Pics of it look good but was wondering if anyone had been before?

Been there a couple times, as I work in the building right at the Chesterbrook Blvd exit (heading north on 202). It's ok, but nothing to write home about.

Been there a few times. Place is nice. Never to busy. Food is good.

Here is my new bar. Just hooking the lines up. 25 ft run to a kreezer in the basement.

They have won at GABF for their Saison many times, with different recipes even, so its worth checking out.

not that i frequent the new one all that often, but I haven't seen a saison at this one yet. That may be reserved for the original location. ??

Ah sorry, I missed that he specified the Berwyn location. I've never been to that one so you might be right, I've only been to the original.

I think i'm going to be brewing on friday, and most likely sometime over the weekend if anyone is interested in stopping by. have alot of beers to get brewed in short order, and a must for the weekend is a saison. Outside of that, I need to brew:

Esibock, dopplebock, schwarzbier, Hose pale, Hopslam Clone, Barleywine.

Hurray! I brewed a beer today. First time since October and the first time on my single tier. Went relatively well considering I was using an untested and poorly planned out rig. There's definitely a learning curve with those pumps and priming....

Congrats guys! I ended up not brewing at all this weekend. Too damn windy for my liking. Hoping it gets warmer out this coming weekend... I have a saison to brew for a friends wedding!

Hey all! I'm a relatively new brewer. I've been at it about a year and a half, and doing AG since batch 3. I live in Jenkintown but spend most of my time at Westminster in Glenside studying. Because of that I usually only brew in summer and winter breaks, but I got a good 20 gallons in between semesters, so I should be alright until the summer. I'm stove-top and mostly small batches (average 3 gallon), but edging my way up.

They just finished judging this weekend, and they should be announcing the winners some time this week! Prepare thy barrels!

Not that I know of. The best deal is the group buys over in jersey. Get on it quick though, it fills fast!!!

There's a rumor spreading that those are getting shut down by Country Malt. I just got enough to last me a while, but I'm always planning ahead.

I'm hoping to build a mill cart next week and start buying grain in sacs.

I got a new fermentor...

It's about 20 gallons give or take a few. Welded 1/2" threaded port near the bottom. It's pretty sweet and will be my new fermenting vessel for 10+ gallon batches. I can't even say what I paid for it. The price would make everybody real angry...

No idea. One of the guys that works with me had a small winery operation and he's retiring so he sold a ton of gear. I got barrel racks, barrels, fermenting can, and a bunch of other stuff.

50 lb sacks for near-wholesale prices. Like I said, I like the group buy, but if that gets shut down I want to know the next best thing.

Most of the LHBS like Barry's (now Philly Homebrew) sell by the sack, its usually ~$70/bag depending on the variety of course. Not as cheap as those bulk buys but still a discount.

Weak knee in Pottstown (my LHBS) sells sacks for $45 to $55. Briess, MO, and Weyermann 2 row and Pale ale. I get Weyermann pale ale for $46 a 55lb sack. I think Keystone in Montgomeryville is about the same pricing. $70 a sack seems a little high.

I don't believe keystone is anywhere near that. I believe they are in the 60-70 range. If they were in the 45 range, I'd have no problem buying it there.

Well, it was $70 for a bag of Pilsner. Not sure the price of other base malts.

If those are the walk in prices in Pottstown I would actually make the drive all the way out there and load up every so often. Those prices are comparable to the group buy prices.
