Hi all,

I've always ordered ingredients from Northern Brewer and/or MoreBeer, but want to cut down on shipping costs, wait times and carbon footprint. Unfortunately, I haven't been impressed by any LHBS on Long Island, and the only one worth a damn has since closed.

Does anyone have a recommended online shop based in the northeast US (tristate area + PA)? A friend mentioned Keystone Homebrew, headquartertered near Philly. Looking to see if anyone has other recs. Thanks.

Great rec, not sure how I didnt think of Bobby after watching his great videos for years. I guess 10 years away from the hobby will do that to one's memory. Thanks!
If for some reason you check out what we have to offer and don't find it to be your best option, I'd love the feedback of why regardless.

I'm near West Point and the UPS shipping from Brewhardware is great. Their service and fulfillment times have been flawless.
I dig that area a lot. I used to camp every year in the little strip of woods between the railroad tracks and the river adjacent to Garrison's Landing.

wow after reading your post i thought it cant be karps.

😢

karps was great. but so far out on the island.

only 3 choices for us.
morebeer ritebrew or bobby.
the shop in brooklyn got rediculously expensive. i think last time i was there they wanted 3 $ a pound for malt!!!!
unless ordering over 59$ bobby is the best deal. once you hit the free shipping mark of morebeer. combined with there 10 percent off . they are hard to beat. i once got a bad bag of carapils from more beer .

bobby otoh i find has the freshest ingredients and thats prolly most important to many here. he also has the best equipment inventory IMO.

and obviously his customer service will be quicker and better than anyone since he is literally on these boards all the time.

you can private message him. that wont happen at the big places.

It was indeed Karps! Sad loss.

I’m going with Bobby. Will always choose to give my business to a family biz over a bigger operation, especially when the proprietor has always been one of the more involved/trusted faces on the home brew scene. No brainer for me!

Brews brothers @ Kedco in Farmingdale. Dave is knowledgeable and will order what he may not have in stock, call first if you need to travel. Bobby is an excellent choice as well, better pricing than NB and being close to NJ we enjoy fast service and reasonable shipping.
Edit: Oops, I’ve reread the title… Kedco is the last HB shop on LI, they don’t operate an online shop.

I've about given up on MoreBeer/Wine. Since they moved ops it's a solid week before anything leaves from the warehouse. Great selection but gotta plan weeks ahead of time.

I'm in MN, 1000+ miles from Brew Hardware. Even so, the price + shipping and shipping times are better than NB/MW were when they were still here in town. In fact, a shipment from Bobby would land on my doorstep faster than NB/MW could even get theirs out the door.
