I have been moaning about getting a motorized paddle set-up for my mash tun for a while. Today I got the motor on ebay for $31.00!
It is an old bodine motor with a 100 to 1 reduction gear on it. It is a 1750 RPM motor which means with the reducer the paddle with run at 17.5 PRM. Can't ask for better then that. I can't wait to get it in hand and set it up.
I believe I will build a new lid with the motor mounted on it, make a hinged section for access, drill a hole for the paddle shaft, so on and so forth.
If you have design ideas, speak up. I could put a pulley on the motor and run a belt to drop the paddle rpms even more. That would prevent problems with direct drive, motor over-heating problems.
Let the fun begin.
