Origin of lager yeast traced to Patagonia!

For the science-minded and geeks out here, scientists have discovered the yeast strain that merged with S cerevisiae to create the hybrid S pastorianus strain we use in lagers. It was found in 'a most unexpected place: Patagonia, the southernmost tip of South America'.
