As of Thursday, it was all over Beer Temple and the Grand-Western Armineties. It's the most expensive of his distro'd beers thus far but well worth the $15.

I definitely would buy considering stuff at the releases are $17, I just never make it to the city proper to shop.

I was late for the bus on this one, how often do Transient beers hit distro? I thought his stuff was only sold at release events...other than tap of course.

no particular interval. i think there are retail drops on the order of once every two months or so, but there does not appear to be any kind of fixed schedule. distro is very limited; on the order of 5-8 stores, so if you want to score transient bottles outside of the reserve society, keep a look out.

Question for folks who are purchasing associate memberships:

Are we supposed to get an invoice from PayPal?

I haven't received an invoice yet. I was planning on emailing him on Wednesday to make sure it didn't end up in my spam or something.

Next event deets finally sent out!

Members,

If word hasn't already circulated, our next release will be on May 31st, and we will yet again be hosted by Aquanaut Beer Co. (5435 N. Wolcott Ave. Chicago, IL).

Time: 11am-4pm (there will be a bottle share allowed outside prior to the doors opening, but we appreciate this ending once the event starts. This is not our property, so we appreciate you cleaining up after yourself and not leaving bottles on the ground)

Place: Aquanaut Beer Co. 5435 N. Wolcott Ave. (hopefully outside)

What you will receive: the bottles are still undecided, but we will announce the day of the event. There will be 4-5 bottles, and a prefilled growler. Plan accordingly, because there are not enough boxes for everyone.

Next period: like last winter's release, we will allow members to sign up for the next session of the membership program at the event. Paying at the release helps us estimate our retention rate, and plan for how many wait-listers we can extend the membership opportunity. This speeds up when we can hold our next release and start the following period, and we will award you with a major award. Price and specifics will be announced at the release.

T-Shirts: We have heard some people have had issues with the shirt sizing. After last period I sent out an email letting everyone know they are able to update their shirt size for the following period. Please do so if you need an adjustment.

Some small changes...

We will be trying to break up a bit of the congestion for draft and to-go bottles, so they will be split into two separate areas for drafts, and more people helping with the to-go area. We heard at last event that non-members were buying the member only beers. We are doing our best to serve the crowd at a decent pace and ensure that the right people are allowed to purchase certain bottles. That being said, we know there is no perfect solution, though our job would be much easier if members did not encourage their guests to also buy member only bottles.

Growlers: aside from the pre-filled growler you will receive, there will be other beers available for growler fills. We will begin this at 3pm, which is also when the previously members-only to-go bottle sales will open up to all guests. Growlers will only be of certain drafts, and that will be decided on the spot.

Associate members: We will be adding 20-25 associate members, as we are finally getting into some of our blended sours, that have allowed for slightly larger bottle counts. In addition, we should be able to raise the limit on the amount of extra bottles members can purchase.

Craft Beer Week: We have a number of events set up for Craft Beer Week, and as those get finalized we will be emailing everyone in this group. This will include some previews of what you can expect to see at the release event and in bottles, so you will want to be there.

If you have any concerns, questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me immediately.

Cheers,
Chris Betts
Sounds like Chris is listening to the suggestions. Hopefully the new changes will go as planned.

I haven't received an invoice yet. I was planning on emailing him on Wednesday to make sure it didn't end up in my spam or something.

Just wondering if I was the only one. Apparently, that isn't the case. I did send an email a bit ago and we'll see if the invoice comes though.

I'm relinquishing my membership if it's a ******* Grammy.

great more people to show up at that place, the lines were long enough last time...

I'll deal with lines for draft pours and bottle sales, as long as they do something about the bathroom situation! That was seriously the worst. Disaster was only narrowly avoided multiple times, even doing my best to anticipate and jump in line earlier than absolutely necessary.

Buckley out next week per an email from Chris a few minutes ago....

This week we will also be releasing Buckley in bottles! When we know the day/time specifically, we will let you all know prior. Be aware, we will be reserving a large portion of the batch to sell during the release event, so if you are unable to make it to any of the shops, you will have another opportunity.

Do transient reserve members get an automatic allocation of buckley? ...damn wish I could go to the release.

I'm pretty sure every beer we've received since the start of the society has been aged in some sort of barrel with some sort of bug. While the bug isn't a prerequisite, I do think the RS beers are designed to always be barrel aged. I'd guess that Buckley is going to just be sold. Who knows what the limits will be or how that will be handled. I would guess that almost every RS member would like to buy their fair share with only a small percentage of folks being there solely for wild beers.

Honestly, the best bet would be to divide the number of bottles you have by the number of society members. Make that the allotment per society member. Make it society member only by giving us a token or something to redeem at the beer buying booth for our purchase allotment.

That seems like the easiest way to handle a beer that sold out on tap at the last party in about 40 minutes or so. I hope it goes something like that. It'd be brutal for a paid RS member to not be able to show at 3PM and get some Buckley because somebody at 11 brought 3 dudebroz with him to score a case.

I totally agree with you on this. I can't remember exactly how it worked at the very first release, but I seem to remember there were limits on how many bottles guests could buy--maybe that was only of the BA stuff and they could buy as many as they wanted of the two bottles, but I thought there was a limit. Regardless, I would love to see some sort of limit that allows members access to at least one of every bottle being offered. I couldn't make it to the last release until 1, and things were already sold out. It's nice that guests have a chance to take some bottles home, but at a Society event, I think all members should have a shot at things before guests (and other members) walk away with cases of things.
