That Wild Friendship Blend!!!! Thoughts?

That Wild Friendship Blend!!!! Thoughts?

Very bright, juicy and acidic. Having drank a ****-ton of jonge and oude lambiek last week, this had very few Cantillon characteristics at all. Way more Sonamic/Coolship elements to it which is fine by me. Also tasted a bit young with carbonation not as explosive as I'm used to. Hoping I get to try this again in 1-2 years but that's very unlikely.

Reviews so far are very positive..not that it matters since this is supposedly only at Cantillon - http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/cantillon--allagash--russian-river-wild-friendship-blend/249189/

cosmicevan I have no idea how you always manage to keep the list straight. I can't even manage to check into untappd toward the end of these things.

I think the favorites were VSB, Back into the Emptiness, Heart of Darkness. The SNR 2000 was great. The 1897 rye was a fun experience and Rathskeller is obviously in a completely different category by itself.

I thought the same thing as I was following cosmicevan posting everything on Instagram. Nuts.

On another note, just opened my Back Into The Emptiness last night and it was absolutely fantastic.

Yep, had bite last night as well. Drinking so awesomely. Between Norma b3 and Cellarman it held it's own

Srs question - how screwed are your taste buds after alternating American wild ales, lambics, stouts, IPAs and bourbon? I mean can you even taste Zwanze after drinking 20 unique libations prior to it?

For me, alternating is helpful. Having only bottles of a single style the makes the subtle nuances of similar beers harder to distinguish. It's also a lot more fun to change things up once in a while. As for the Zwanze, we were just looking for something fun to open at the end of the night. Science had nothing to do with that one. :D

What did you think of this year's BADL variants? Specifically looking for info on Biggleswade.

Bvdl is awesome, just like the prior years' releases. The brandy was better than 2011 by a lot. As for biggleswade, the nose was very strange and we thought it would be terrible, but reactions ranged from "this isn't for me" to "omg I need moar." It's a beer that I'd love to try again but I wouldn't give up what it takes again.

Very much agreed. It's very good, but hard to drink a ton of. It's a beer I could see be polarizing, but we all agreed the execution was done well.

BVDL is liquid marshmallows again.

I unfortunately didn't get Brandy yet.

I agree with GrumpyOldTroll regarding the Biggleswade. I was not fond of the smell and the taste was quite polarizing amongst the group. A couple people could not finish their glass, while others really enjoyed the taste. I was very glad to have an opportunity to try this beer, however I would not seek a bottle for the cost. Likewise, I would certainly not turn down another opportunity to try Biggleswade.

Personally, my preference was BVDL>Brandy>Biggleswade with the distance between BVDL and Brandy smaller than the distance between Brandy and Biggleswade.

Dirty job but someone has to do it!

As for favs, I know I was not in the majority, but i really couldn't get over fuzzy and felt it lived up to the hype. I wasn't too impressed with either tired hands beer. Biggleswade was also really nice (all the DLs were good fresh this year). I was floored by everything non beer that was consumed (including the crepes!) but most of all dat heart of darkness. One of the best liquids I have ever tasted. SNR 2000 Was also a huge surprise since I wasn't a fan last time. Really so much great beer food and everything. Amplitude was a pleasant surprise and VSB lived up to the hype for me too.

Wait, we drank zwanze? :^O

Had a few pretty nice shares this past week.

Sunday I met up with a buddy that I hadn't seen in almost two years to share a few things he hasn't had before:

And last night went over my friend Adam's place for a few beers with friends:

Of course we had to do all of the A Night To End All Dawns variants together which was fantastic:

If you remember, how's the Green Monster doing?
This was the first time having it, and the best way I can describe it is definitely interesting. Not really my thing right now, but if I had another bottle I'd definitely hold onto it for a bit and see how a little age treats it. We did open it before the "Best After" date though.
