MY thoughts:
Rare has lost the "magic". It was still a fantastic beer and had a great character, but it's not worth what it takes anymore (especially with all the other amazing beers).

King Henry is a fading King. It's still a great and world-class beer, but Bourbon County Barleywine is currently drink better than King Henry.

So what's the deal with this? There's a grocery store near me that sells little ~100 mL bottles of Balsamic for over $300 each. What do you do with them?
1) drizzle on strawberries and apples
2) drizzle on your balls and have high-priced Scandinavian hookers escorts lick them clean while their friends entourage take turns blowing lines of coke off your navel on top of a crystal coffee table in a Vegas Penthouse

cheers!

My brother is in town from CA. Brought some goodies with him to go with what I have been saving for him. Sunday 4 of us hit this:

And then last night 5 of us did this:

Supposed to go Christmas shopping with the wife today. She said we could go by Avery and tonight we have tickets for a beer dinner at Grimm Brothers. My liver wants none of it. I could go a day or 2 w/o alchohol. Let the callouts on my pussiness begin....

I approach beer tasting/ticking/general geekery as a sport. You have to train for a big event and in our case the "training" consists of staying healthy, doing exercise and not drinking (so that you can drink more in the long run, of course). I haven't had beer or any other alcohol for two weeks now, building up for our local tasting group's epic pre-Xmas Imperial Stout tasting... Come on Saturday!

You're done by 11pm? I've never had a tasting end before 3am.

How are the Temptations drinking?

Pic was actually from last weekend...I think we were done at like 8pm ha

Both were still really nice although the B4 was the clear winner for me. A bit more vibrant and flavorful, stronger white wine and soft fruit with slightly less acidic sourness.

Decided to open the majority of the .rar in my cellar with family over Thanksgiving time, was pretty liberating.

This was very good, probably the best mead/non-traditional wine I've had

Gross. Reminded me of Raspberry Truffle Braggot in all the wrong ways, definitely not my thing..
SC9parq.jpg

This is still one of the better American framboise I've had. Less raw oak taste than the last bottle I tasted, but it still has that cool spicy cinnamon influence from the barrels; unique.

Really liked this bottle! Much more nuanced than I remember batch 1, tasted like the malt bill was tweaked. Great food beer.
0YKifAm.jpg

Also decidedly different than batch 1, less lime-dominated. Hibiscus was easily picked out by a couple wine tasters who had it blind, and trace blood orange was perceivable where I didn't get any of either in the b1 bottles I've had. Immensely drinkable, one of the better saisons I've had from HF, or anywhere.
DjQWpA6.jpg

Most recent batch, tart and awesome right out the gate! One of the best bottles of Arthur I've had in a while, such a great beer.
O5QMQ3f.jpg

Been looking forward to this for a while. Really, really tasty saison, but maybe not worth the price of admission. Everyone present (not beer trders) preferred Brother Soigne and Arthur, and I honestly don't disagree. Mandarin flavors were threshold level, if that, as it turns out most of the same fruit/citrus pith notes were also present in regular Flora.

See above. 750ml is better than 375ml. Curious to try with some age on it.
6gVBkQD.jpg

Thought this was very good, though different than every flanders I've had. Much less tart and sweet interplay, and more earth and roast character. Interesting, but not mind blowing.
65B518t.jpg

I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually preferred this fresh, and at about 6 months old. Still awesome, though.

Pretty disappointed by this one. I remember the Upland Raspberry I had in the Spring being oaky, jammy, cheesy, tart, and awesome. This was not that, and falls much more in line with Cascade than a 'real' lambic.
W9POHeD.jpg

This was great, but probably on the lower end of hard-to-get seasonal Cantillon that I've had. IMO Fou Foune>St Lam>LP Kirek>Viggy>LP Fram
