I’m kinda shocked by sports radio hosts completely dismissing criminal charges for Garret as ludicrous.

He’s listed at 6’4”, 271. The guy is a professional athlete and strong as $&@(. He took a full effin swing at a guy’s head with a helmet.

I’m not saying he should do 15 to life but criminal charges are out of the question?? Why???

If someone is walking down the street, gets into a heated argument with someone else, and takes a full swing at their head, and connects, with a helmet.... damn effin right charges are coming.... but do it during a game and it’s suddenly a “league issue” done in the heat of competition. What!?!!

I’m not defending The guy because I can’t, but it is pretty difficult to draw a line with regard to criminal assault here. If a guy tackled me randomnly in the street, that would probably be assault as well. Lots of the game is criminal in a different context really.

I hear ya. But... the article I linked to talks about that very thing and the distinction is basically “what should you reasonably expect as part of playing the sport?”. So... hard tackles etc.? Of course for football. Whereas, someone walking down the street (to use your example)... no, not at all.

A fight breaks out and there are a few punches thrown? Ok. NFL players know its a high-emotion game. They have all seen fights break out. You can argue that should “reasonably expect that”.

The guy removed a helmet and took a full swing at a guys head... which like I keep saying.. if he had actually fully connected, he could have killed Rudolph.

You’re gonna have a tough time convincing me NFL players should “reasonably expect” that.

Like I keep saying, I’m not calling for Garret’s head and calling for jail time... but NO legal ramifications at all? I struggle with that.

How can the NFL Players Association not take a stand on this. They have a fiduciary responsibility to all the members regarding player safety, health and well being.

Oh ya, I forgot. The NFLPA is only there to lighten the members wallets and sell out to the league for pocket change.

Edelman career QB stats: 4-4, 1 TD, 0 INTs, rating 158.3 (perfect)
He should get the ball more often...
For a career, mimimum 1,500 attempts to qualify for a perfect passer rating. Only 1,496 more to go. Wow, 4-4 in a 10-year career, that's huge! At that rate, in 3,740 more years he might get there no problem.
