Is it me or is there a huge amount of suckage in the field goal game these days?

Admittedly, New England fans have been spoiled by the back-to-back runs of Vinatieri (when he was great) and Gostkowski (practically his entire career - and with significantly better percentages than Vinatieri). And we're dealing with totally sketchy talent at that position now (tbh I wouldn't trust a playoff game to our current kicker).

Has the talent level crashed or did something else happen to make the kicking game seem full o' drama these days?

I don't know about this week but that "game" sure AF ended in a most weirdly manner.
Still, yet another yawner. Would anyone really miss TNF at this point?

I did a post about how awful TNF is a few weeks ago. The league is really bad at picking games for TNF. They're usually either lopsided or the football equivalent of tickle-fights.

Keep the games on Sunday and Monday nights.

Well whaddya gonna do when you realize there's 8 seconds left and you haven't met your weekly quota of self destructive penalties? Um, yeah, I realize I'm trash talking my own team, but after a lifetime it just seems sort of natural....

I know you can't do helmet to helmet contact but do the rules specifically state that your own helmet hitting your own head is a penalty?

It’s no biggie. They suck somethin’ awful and sometimes even their own fans have to come out and say it. It’s understandable.

I find it bizarre that even when the Browns win they seem to have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the mouth of victory. It’s not so much that they shoot themselves in the foot that amazes me, it’s the fact that they rapid reload and continue to fire.

It’s not some weird supernatural force causing the Browns to lose for eternity or anything. Too many individual egos on this team, plain and simple. They don’t play for eachother at all. You can win a few games with the talent they have, but you can’t have a championship team with egos like this.

I’m kinda shocked by sports radio hosts completely dismissing criminal charges for Garret as ludicrous.

He’s listed at 6’4”, 271. The guy is a professional athlete and strong as $&@(. He took a full effin swing at a guy’s head with a helmet.

I’m not saying he should do 15 to life but criminal charges are out of the question?? Why???

If someone is walking down the street, gets into a heated argument with someone else, and takes a full swing at their head, and connects, with a helmet.... damn effin right charges are coming.... but do it during a game and it’s suddenly a “league issue” done in the heat of competition. What!?!!

That's been tried in pro hockey - Teddy Green & Wayne Maki each faced assault charges in their respective courts after an on-ice stick-swinging brawl that ended with Green suffering season ending brain damage.

They were both acquitted. Not sure any benefit was gained from the exercise...

That makes zero sense to me.

Again, I think there are some mitigating circumstances and I’m not looking for anyone to see serious prison time... but criminal charges are just off the table??? That’s ridiculous.

Two college soccer players get into an argument, one whips out a small gun, shoots the other in the leg.

“Welp.. they were on a soccer field.... sooooo. Legally... nuthin’ we can do. Guy who got shot should shut up next time.”

???????
