Every mention I've seen on here has said it's extract, but I haven't seen anything official mentioned other than it's a beer brewed using White House honey. I still think it's interesting that this guy made an account to post nothing more than this thread.

I heard from some people in the BA that it's an AG system and Sam Calagione was by recently to check it out.

Yes, we know the White House is doing some brewing. Yes, we know there is a petition to release the recipe. Apparently it can't be discussed without arguing politics, which is against site policy. The discussion is closed.

Go to petitions.whitehouse.gov, create an account, and sign this petition:

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Release the recipe for the Honey Ale home brewed at the White House.
Following in the footsteps of great men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, Barack Obama has reportedly been enjoying the rewards of home brewed beer. Recent reports from news outlets like the Washington Post (August 15th, 2012) have stated that Obama has been drinking a White House home brew Honey Ale while on the campaign trail.

In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, homebrewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all.

I saw this today, but for some reason all of the threads that show when you search for "White House Beer" seems to be missing.

Either way, if 25,000 signatures are received by 9/17, they will release the White House Beer recipe.

Story:
GROESBECK, TX. (WTVR)—After some applied pressure, the White House announced that beer enthusiasts might soon get their hands on the presidential recipe.

Jay Carney, White House spokesperson, recently announced on Twitter that the administration will unveil the beer’s recipe once a petition for the request receives 25,000 signatures by September 17.

Got a Q today on @wethepeople petition asking us to share WH beer recipe: wh.gov/4y9b If it reaches the threshold, we'll release it
23 Aug 12"

President Obama made headlines when he revealed he drinks beer that’s specially-brewed in the White House.

“It is ice-cold and tasty,” the president said about his preferred White House Honey Ale.

Beer fans immediately started begging for the recipe but Mr. Obama has declined to release it. A White House petition was started, in hopes of getting the information.

Limestone County Assistant District Attorney Brody Burks, who is also a home brewer, drafted up a Freedom of Information Act request for the recipe. A picture of the FOIA was placed on Reddit, and that’s when the story went viral.

The Texas man thinks that this is the best way to obtain the recipe, because if said recipe exists as a federal document, the government is required to release it.

“I brew my own beer in my backyard. So I figured maybe I could learn a few things from our president,” Burks said.

Thousands have signed the official White House petition that Carney mentioned. Right now the petition has just over 9,100 signatures and so it needs more than 15,000.

The FOIA certainly wasn’t filed without some fanfare and humor in mind. The end of the request says: “Also, if you could send me a copy autographed by the President, you’d be the coolest FOIA officer in the whole federal government, and who could resist that title?”

Under the Freedom of Information Act, The White House has ten days to at least respond to Burks’ request. Until then Burks is keeping his fingers crossed.

“My beer is OK, but I would like to try the president’s to see if it’s any better,” Burks told CBS affiliate KWTX.

One known element, aside from the hops, is the honey that comes from bees that live on the south lawn of the White House.
