Rant on:

I'm old. I remember back before we had cable (I wasn't really interested in watching baseball back then, it was more football on Sundays with my dad). For years I've been able to watch my team almost every game unless it was a blackout. NOW if you don't have the right streaming service (in this case apple tv) you can't watch on Fridays. THIS IS BS. Yes I can listen on the radio but it's not the same. I'm cranky.

Rant off.

MLB made a deal with Apple to show 25 weeks of Friday games on Apple TV. Unfortunately local providers don't have access to any of these games no matter what.

A few years ago when Judge was going for 62 home runs, he had 61 and a Yankee game was scheduled on Apple TV. Our local tried to make a deal with Apple to simulcast on both but Apple refused. Luckily he didn't hit 62 that night.

There is also a similar deal with Roku for 18 games on Sundays but at least these can be accessed for free.

I have mlb.tv and I can get the apple and prime games that way; only games I can't get are Nats and O's, so if one of those teams is playing somebody I want to see I have to watch the local network; extra innings would be the same I think.

I wound up doing the apple tv free trial so I could watch. Their coverage sucks, color reporters talking to fans while the game is going on. Cancelled it the next day as the schedule shows all the rest of their Friday games on Root, and there's really nothing else on appletv I am interested in. Glad I did that or I would have missed Raleigh's 37 & 38, with 38 being a grand salami.

Speaking of Cal, that was really awful of Detroit to take away his last at-bat in the 9th yesterday just so he wouldn't tie the record with Bonds. I also have issue with opposing fans tossing HR balls back on the field, how rude.

But, damn; sweeping the team with the absolute best record in baseball? That is a heady brew my friends. Still giggly today. Also squeaking into the third wild card spot thanks to the Rays.

Well since I seem to be one of the few posting in this thread....Cal gets # 50 last night and happens to be one of the humblest players I've seen in my many years of watching this sport. Love to see it. Also lending his name and image to a small local plumbing company, a' la Marshawn Lynch and Beacon Plumbing. I watch a lot of games but I never see the joy in the game with other teams that I do with my Mariners. And may I also say that I am giggling uncontrollably that the Houston A**h**es are getting their butts kicked by the Colorado Rockies tonight. Fist bumps to any Rockies fans out there.
