just received 1# of yeast nutrient for starter, do i need to keep it in the fridge? thx in advance
 
dry kind, so in the basement with the rest of the gear I guess...
 
another noob question, watchd a bunch of video about making a starter, all good but none so far is telling me how long to keep it on the stir plate....

Eighteen to thirty-six hours generally. There are some variations by type of yeast and wort temperature.
Ambient room temp is acceptable. The wort may not smell or taste good at warm temperatures, but you are propagating cells not making beer.

so planning to brew saturday, have to work friday, so start it tomorrow night?

12 to 24 hours is more than enough, especially if using a stir plate. It's all about preference.

You could start it Friday evening, and use it Saturday afternoon. I've done it numerous times and had no negative outcomes. You could also make it Friday morning if you're concerned about the time...
 
my arse wake up at 4:30am to make it to work at 5:30, morning brewing during the week is not an option:eek:
