New product for yeast starters... "airotop"

Saw these at a scientific conference today. They are a sterile, disposable, gas-permeable 0.2 micron filter top for culture flasks.

I'll be ordering some as soon as I get home.

Why not use sanitized aluminum foil? It will allow air to transfer into your flask and bugs don't have legs to crawl into your flask.

I'm sure you'll have fun with them. They look nice enough. I'll stick with my foil. I've never had any problems with lack of air intake in the years I've been using foil.

This filter is $5 at Morebeer. Add it to a drilled stopper and voila. That is, unless you plan to shake instead of use a stir plate. These are clearly superior for Shaken Not Stirred.
