New member - reborn long time brewer

New here. Been brewing since 1992 but took about a 15 break when I had kids. Now with kids out of the house, I picked up the hobby again and am having fun doing it. Within the last 18 months switched from extract to all grain and love it. Have been kegging for a long time (bottles became a PITA) and built a 3 keg Keezer last year. Trend towards West Coast style IPAs but enjoy brewing many styles. Beers now are a Pliny clone that turned out maltier but good, a Vanilla Cream Ale (inspired by Cali Creamin') and just brewed a Deschutes Porter clone yesterday. Excited to be here!

Sorry your kids must have been like I was at that age for you to get rid of them in their mid-teens....means you really do need a steady supply of good beer.

I can definitely relate. I started brewing in 1992 - also took a 15 year break. Starting back brewing is as much fun as starting the first time. Welcome back.

Me too. Took a hiatus for a decade and got back in. My reason was the explosion of craft beers in 2004 - 2015... I figured, okay... I will just buy the beers I like.

But things change. The craft part went corporate for a lot of good beers and smaller places got crushed by COVID lockdowns so I got back in. I was blown away by all the tech advances. Whoa. And began doing "all grain" with a Brewzilla after a period of discovery.
It is the golden age for home Brewers right now. We can make better beer at less than 1/2 the price.
