Hello everybody, new to brewing but not to vBulletin forums. A friend and I just purchased our first brewing setup and we can't wait to get brewing. I can't wait to read the tons of information I see on this site.

Just one question I would be glad to get an answer to, and forgive me for not searching thoroughly first- I have read that there will be yeast in the bottles when you go to drink them. Is this always the case, and can it be avoided? How do the major brewers avoid this?

Thanks again and can't wait to get learning and brewing. :mug:
P.S. what an appropriate opportunity to use that smiley.

Welcome to the forum...
You will get sediment in your bottles, but as long as you decant them properly they won't get into your glass.

You can minimize the amount of sediment, but you'll still get a little bit unless you really filter out your beer which is what commercial brewers do.

Welcome to the hobby!

You can certainly drink from the bottles but you will learn to leave the last 1/4" on the bottom (unless you want to drink the yeast...will give you gas though)

Welcome! What part of town are you from?
I don't recommend drinking out of the bottles, as the agitation will stir up the yeast, and you'll wind up drinking it.

Duh on my part. I'm describing the act of pouring from the bottle to a glass!!!

Good call kjung!

I wouldn't drink from the bottle (unless you want the dry taste of the yeast and gas)

Ryan,

Welcome to the insanity :mug:! I have been brewing for about one and a half years and love it. Always trying to plan the next brew day, much to my wife's dismay. I live in Lombard - you anywhere close?

I actually live in Highland in Northwest Indiana (Insert Indiana joke/stereotype here), and I work in the city. I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of my equipment, as are all my friends lol. Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
