Hi all, as the subject line says I am a new Brewer in Northern Michigan. We just moved up here last May after 37 years in S. Florida. (Yeah, I know. I get that all the time.)

Anyway, I got a Homebrew kit for Christmas and brewed my first batch about 3 weeks ago. A nice "beginner-friendly" Nut Brown Ale extract. It is now sitting in the bottles waiting for conditioning for another week or so.

Having fun with it so far!

Welcome fellow Michigander! Michigan is one of the best states in the country for craft beer! Sooo many good breweries in our state. Our roads are terrible and our football team never wins any playoff games, but hey - at least we can drown our sorrows in solid craft brew! You'll absolutely love the fall color up there next September. And, it's a good thing you moved up there this winter and not last - last winter was historically awful. Enjoy your new hobby and new home!

Welcome! I have good friends up near there. They lived in HS for a little while, but last year moved to Petosky We get up there a few times a year to hang out and whatnot. I'm looking forward to heading back up soon and checking out Beards Brewing again. Cool little place.

I haven't heard of any brewing clubs up that way, but I don't doubt there are people up there who brew. Have you checked the AHA for club information? Most clubs register with the AHA just to get their name out there. If you can't find one, start one!

When you said "Northern Michigan", I thought you meant north. You're a southerner to me- and we call that area "The banana belt" because it's so much warmer than the UP. :D

There is a brew club in Petoskey....it's called UNCLE...not sure what it stands for but I met a few members at the beer festival a couple weeks ago
