ok I've got a badly scratched german brewferm gold can (also 5 years out of date!) but I'm going to brew it none the less. Has anyone got any instructions for it? I've looked online but cant find this particular one of their range.

*EDIT* oh also I don't have the yeast that came with it, so just bought some standard lager brewing yeast, would this be ok?

Thank you.

Do you have the ability to maintain the correct temperature for lager yeast? I believe it needs to be in the 50 to 55 degree F. range.

Nope, I found the original packet of yeast though :D...5 years out of date, so I assume it's dead. Is it worth putting both packets in? I'm pretty much treating this like an experiment right now what with the out of date extract, 3 different kinds of sugars, standard larger yeast (perhaps the other pack as well if advised) and I shall be brewing in my flat so the temperature will fluctuate a bit around the high mark.

Found the instructions if anyone happens to come here looking for them.

Basically boil some water, add the syrup and hops hold a rolling boil for about an hour, cool to room temp, add yeast, wait about 2 weeks.

I'm not assuming there's any chance this is going to be particularly good beer, but it'll be beer. So if that's the experiment I think it'll be successful.
