my company is hosting an event with the local chamber of commerce and we're providing the catering and three Corey's of homebrew. One guy is brewing a red, the other a smoked rye IPA . I think the red will go over well, but anything with a smoky flavor is going to put some novice beer drinkers off. I was thinking some kind of Amber ale nothing too hoppy, but something with kind of a fruity profile....and relatively low abv. Something to help usher in the spring after this bull**** winter. I do extract, partial, and biab. Any ideas?

I have 5g of standard and 5g on 3lb of strawberries on tap both are superb and go from grain to glass in a month if kegging.
5 weeks after brewing this is what I get

I assume you mean by lagering chilling in secondary for some extended duration...If so , yes...here is the rub. Party is May 7th...
 
If you keg and brewed tomorrow or Friday I think you could do the centennial blonde. Actually I think its one of the few beers you could do on that short of a timetable.
 
The Centennial Blonde would be a good choice, however if that doesn't quite do it for you, BeirMuncher's Cream of Three Crops would be a good choice. And a good Pale Ale always seems to be well accepted.
 
I like the idea of the blonde...I've been digging Nelson hops lately and was hoping to incorporate them . Thoughts on kicking it up a bit, or should I go tried and true???
 
I am facing a similar situation with my wedding and future mother-in-law. We are going to do a black ipa, a pale ale, and a strawberry kiwi hefe. I brewed the strawberry kiwi and she loved it so now I get homebrew at my wedding.
5 gallon batch:
5.5 lbs 2 row
5.5 white wheat
1.75 oz halluertauer at boil
Brewers friend strawberry-kiwi extract at kegging.

Easy and even the most novice beer drinker will enjoy.
 
C Blonde....it's good, quick and easy.
I would just go with the original recipe, though I have omitted the Vienna malt with no discernible difference (at least to me).

You may want to take a look at this one. I have brewed it 3 times and it goes over great every time. It is flavorful and complex enough for a beer snob to appreciate and at the same time a huge hit with the BMC crowd. Yooper posted the recipe, and it has been tweaked by many people for what they are targeting which I have found works great as the base beer is so awesome.

The tried and true really is a great simple beer. After brewing a 10g batch of it once I feel like I will always want it on tap. My wife and I are halfway through a keg in 2 weeks +-... In truth I might be a slight alcoholic though.
 
Another vote for Centennial Blonde, good choice for the BMC drinkers.
 
Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde would make a great choice. Another one easily accessible for the general public is Wayne/Nilo's Blue Moon clone. It always goes over great with my BMC drinking family, makes a great lawnmower-type easy drinker, and is neutral enough that it lends itself to adding fruit of almost any variety.
