It is indeed Virginia Tech. The brick building is the back of Lane Hall. This picture was taken when the new cadet dorms (the limestone [Hokie Stone] buildings to either side) were being built and formations had to be done on the back side of the building.

The unit in the foreground of this photo is the Virginia Tech Regimental Band, the Highty-Tighties, of which I am an alumnus.

There's a ton more trivia I could spout about this picture, but it would probably get boring. :)

You're up @3 Dawg Night

Sorry; no offense intended, @dirkomatic!

Digging deep in the photo roll for this one. It's a little more obscure, but I bet someone will come up with it.

I think someone will come up with the location pretty easily; the actual site may be a little more difficult (maybe).

Dang, @dirkomatic is right on! I really expected someone to get Cape Canaveral pretty quickly, but not the Launch Complex 34 part. This picture is mine from circa 2000. The structure in the background is one of the Vehicle Assembly Buildings for final assembly of the Space Shuttle before it moved out to the launch pad. The structure in the foreground is the remnants of Launch Complex 34, the site of the Apollo 1 fire that killed astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. It's no longer used by NASA for active launches but stands as a memorial to the Apollo 1 crew. I had a class "field trip" to tour Kennedy Space Center in college, and this was one of the stops on the tour.

You're up (again), @dirkomatic!

I stopped by Cape Canaveral when I was really young on a family vacation. That's a really cool photo and great history. It's easy to recognize as an old launch site... Just had to figure out which one.

Ok... Borrowed this one from a friend:

My immediate reaction was Scotland, so unless we're getting cute about the definition of the UK wrt Crown Dependencies and the like, I'll keep with the Celtic theme - Ireland

If it's not technically part of the UK, it can't be on the Isles of Scilly so I am guessing somewhere in either Guernsey or Jersey based since they are technically crown dependencies and not in the UK.

However, if I google "Churches in Jersey" from Syracuse then I get a lot of pictures of churches in Hoboken, Elizabeth, Jersey City,..

Not crown dependent. Nothing to do with any UK related territory.

Not Guernsey or Jersey.

It's smaller than both.

You actually can see this church on Google Maps, but street view is spotty in that area.

It's not Les Blainvillais on Iles Chausey.

This island is technically closer to England than Iles Chausey and it is much closer to France.
