That was a WAG, so I'm probably not. Might be a tributary like the Mosel. I can almost guarantee that a long skinny boat full of old retirees pulls into that port there, probably several times a week

Close enough! Tournon-sur-Rhone is where the photo was taken but I was actually looking for the town on the other side of the river; Tain L'Hermitage. It has many varieties of grapes for quality wines and a famous school for chocolatiers. Apparently well known chefs attend to learn about chocolate.
